I understand the social pressures of believing in something but having to hide it. The forced conformity from schools, churches, friends, and families can be overwhelming whether a person realizes it or not. The pressure is so pervasive that it's difficult to be anything but a product of your environment.
Many people here are resolute flat-earthers but lack the social means to publicly proclaim the fact. It could cost you your job, the respect of friends, or even the love of families. In most cases, it is a very steep price to pay. This is why I want to caution any closet flat-earthers to carefully consider their decision to out themselves.
Think long about what you may lose. The majority of the world will persecute you for your beliefs, no matter how demonstrable they may be. Sadly, ours is a species populated with bigots and blind believers. This is why I must say, if you are not in a place in your life to shout to the flat world that you don't trust their circuitous ways, then do not. They will not hesitate to discriminate against you to the full limit of their abilities.
There is no shame in living behind the veil of anonymity if the price is too high. Making a moral stand to the ignorant is not worth losing your job, friends, family, or anything else of value. So, while I do encourage anyone to open their eyes and see beyond the horizon, if admitting that you're a flat-earther harms you, then just don't. Leave it to the rest of us to fight the good fight and if life ever finds you under different circumstances, then our world would welcome another flat-earther.
