Wait, you're a cop?

Hahah, nah not yet.  Once I graduate from college.  Should have used could instead of can.  My bad.

Yeah, we can go about 80, after that you are asking for it.  But as a police officer I could cruise at higher than that, depending on traffic of course.
wat? As a police officer you'll be expected to respect and uphold the law. I don't know how it works in America but in the UK the police aren't universally loved by all. And so if they are speeding with the lights off, someone will get the registration and report them. All police cars here are also fitted with GPS so the control centre can see who is where and doing what. I assume you have a similar level of technology. Don't for a second think you'll be "cruising around" exempt from the law.

Also, I think you are going to make a terrible police officer. That's twice now you have implied you wish to abuse your public position of authority. You may have well said you'll wave tickets for blowjobs, beat up suspects and accept bribes.
Police should be the last people to break the law.

Somehow, I don't think that would work very well.

By the way, the Tesla Roadster could smoke the Cadillac CTS-V.

Really, who would have thought that such a small car could eat up a 4200 pound sedan...  Why don't we compare apples to apples and see how the Tesla Roadster does next to a Z06 or a ZR1?  Oh, it gets eaten alive...  what a surprise.

What's their 0-60? I know that the Tesla is somewhere between 3.5-3.7.

You also have to realize that an electric motor has its peak torque at 0 RPMs, so off the line, you have crazy amounts of torque at your disposal.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

I know, that's what gives it such great, even acceleration.

What's their 0-60? I know that the Tesla is somewhere between 3.5-3.7.

The ZR1 can do it in as little as 3.2 if you get an amazing launch, but i see more people posting 3.4 times.  The z06 i see from 3.5-3.7 usually, with some quick times from amazing drivers.

But i couldn't care less about 0-60 times because that not a great indicator of a cars actual performance, its a great indicator of  traction.  The Zr1 has 638 HP, and only weights 3200 pounds, which means it flys around tracks, and if you pull up next to it on the freeway at night, you basically have no hope.  The z06 is slightly lighter, but puts out 505 hp from its NA 427.  Both cars cannot hook up off the line, they just sit there and spin their tires for the first .3-5 seconds.

Basically the longer you do anything in either of these cars, the further ahead of the Tesla you will be.  For example, another measure I am not too fond of is the quarter mile, where the zr1 is done in 10.66 (which is a pretty exceptional driver, average is about 11.3) the best time i have seen in a Tesla is 12.6.  in the quarter mile, a tenth of a second is about car length, so the best Tesla time is 13 car lengths behind the ZR1 by the end of the race.  And if you take the best ZR1 time its a pretty humiliating gap of 19.5 car lengths.

Here is the ten six run.

Most of the time I see 11.3, so this guy must of had a lot of practice.  But it goes to show how important a good launch is in these super cars, especially the ones without all wheel drive.

Wow, Okay, Thork.  First of all, I am pretty sure the only thing I plan on "abusing" is my ability to speed.  Second, I don't plan on being highway patrol, so I won't be speeding in a cop car, I am talking about off duty.  Third, Pretty much everyone speeds, I don't do it because I think I am a cop that's above the law, I do it because i would like travel in the fast lane without being shot to death for doing 65 mph.

Not to mention that Highway patrol travels faster than traffic with a legitimate reason, if they don't they will keep seeing the same car during their drive.  So they cruise at 5-10 above the speed of traffic so that they can actually move through surrounding cars to see different vehicles.

I personally hate the local sheriffs that hot dog around town, running reds for no reason, driving without their lights on, cutting people off, and just in general being dicks.

I am just saying that when I cruise on the freeway  at 85-90 (provided that I don't have to swerve to do it) on my way to work, or do a burn out on a deserted road that a cop happens to be watching, that I won't likely be cited for my offense.  Nothing more, nothing less.  I am not going to be racing people through traffic, demanding blow jobs in exchange for warnings, or shooting people for marijuana possession.  I just plan on being like every other normal person and speeding in the fast lane, except when I get pulled over i will flash my badge and be on my way (unless the other cop is a stickler.)

To be honest, I find it depressing that this isn't the case for everyone. Some laws are fucking retarded.

Guys, the roadster is an electric toy car. It's amazing that it can even compete with other supercars.

And yeah, we seem to have a boner for speed limits and over policing over here. The second you break a speed limit, you automatically become a murderer that deserves to suffer all the consequences. There's no way any of us could get anywhere near 90mph on our highways without serious consequences if you got caught. 70mph is enough for me, but even that's too fast for every inner-city highway. Then there's the depressing fact that most drivers are simply under educated in regards to driving, thanks to our inadequate driver education.

or do a burn out on a deserted road that a cop happens to be watching

Never understood the fascination with wasting tires like this. I know it demonstrates the cars power, but it just seems boring. Not something I would ever do, even if I had a high HP beast that handled like a boat.

Yeah, it's a vicious cycle. Morons don't know how to drive, so they cause accidents, the government blames speeding and tightens speed limit enforcements instead of educating drivers, which only reinforces the message that drivers don't need to know how to handle the vehicles they are operating and can rely on the government to make rules and regulations to protect them. Then some idiot causes an accident, and the same thing happens again.

What we need is a new government that isn't fucking retarded. Maybe the Greens would be more sensible if they get elected sometime soon.

I was in a modified Ford Mustang that could smoke the tires in 4th gear while going 100km/h down the highway. That thing was a beast. Apparently the first time he did it he thought he broke the transmission because the car wasn't accelerating, and the engine noise drowns out the tire squeal.

I am not sure if you have spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a muscle car, or even a sports car, but the power, the precision, it can be intoxicating.  The sounds and smells, the forces, they make driving into something more than just a way to get from point a to point B.
I am comfortable with the size of my penis. Hopefully you will come to accept what you have. :-\

Really, that is the best you got? I expected more.
