What does your actual desktop look like?

So, we know what your shitty virtual desktops look like, but what about their shitty counterparts in reality? Mine looks like a pile of books.

Yes, they are all very important.

Yeah, that Ubuntu Window isn't hiding the fact that LordDave uses Windows. He's made his choice and Bill has his money.

Who said I'm trying to hide it?  I'm installing Ubuntu in a VM to see if it'll run my games using WINE better than Debian.

How long ago did you try them on Debian? The wine package in Debian unstable/testing recentliy underwent a fairly major update, so you may want to give it another go.

That said, Wine is a quirky motherfucker. I wouldn't be surprised if you can't get your games working on any distro.

Why not just play your games on Windows?

He probably wants his computer to be useful.

Lower overhead.  Plus, because I'm bored.

Wow, time flies. The newer wine has been in the testing repos since June, it seems.

Were you trying it on stable or testing?

He probably wants his computer to be useful.
He already has Windows. So why not play the Windows compatible games on Windows instead of running Windows with a VM and a Windows emulator to run his games?

Testing Debian.  Stable Wine.  Though I had to play with it because Wine didn't have strictly debian libraries.  I had to use the Ubuntu libraries to get the latest version.

That makes two of us.

Uh, why not simply install Wine from the Debian package repo?

Then it was more than three months ago. The version in Debian testing since June is the current Wine stable release.

What's wrong with desktop icons? ???
I just don't think they serve any purpose. When do people actually use the desktop anyway?

I do in fact double click the little icons I personally put on my desktop, because you know, that is why I put them there, to use.
