The first person to turn this into any kind of debate will get a Buzz Aldrin style punch in the face.

A true pioneer of aviation and space exploration, who inspired so many. Rest in peace, Neil.

I followed the Apollo missions as a kid and I still remember my Grandfather waking me up in the early hours of the morning to watch the final descent.

In those days in the UK there were only three channels and they usually went off air about 10.30 so watching TV at near 4 in the morning was an event in itself.

A true hero and a remarkably humble man given his place in history.

From a child who watched the stars become that little bit closer on that night, thank you, and farewell.
Hang on, I'll just check my personal care factor for this week : nope still don't give a fuck

This is neither the time or the place for that kind of shit.

Wait a couple of day's and start a thread. In the meantime think of what the man represented, not only for his country, but for the ambitions of humanity worldwide.

An entire planet, regardless of race, religion, or creed was focused on one man at one moment. That's got to be worth something special.

I remember sitting there in front of the tv at age 5 and watching the moonlanding on black and white tv. It's just a shame to find out 35 years later that the landing was bs.

I thought it was the cyclist when I first heard this, I was expecting Thork to start this thread with a big smug "I told you so" steroid rant.

Feels bad man.

Do your friends and family know you're smearing crap over a thread paying respect to a man regarded as a hero, especially among your fellow Americans? Would you be happy if they did know? Well, there's your answer. So grow up.
Same goes for you Saddam. You don't have to automatically defecate into a thread simply because I've told an idiot to show some respect for the dead.

I watched it on TV as a child.

Did you not get the general consensus of the entire thread?

A true hero, as in true, as in not made up but a genuine pioneer, as in individuals who were willing to put their lives on the line so the rest of us could go to sleep feeling a little bit better about the world.

Which part of the overall mood of this thread whizzed past your understanding?

Oh bye the way, thanks for making that second post and welcome to TFES.
