I think that is possibly the most frightening video I have ever seen.

Google will know where you are, what your doing, what your interested in, who you are with, tell you where to eat, what to eat, when to get on the train, what you'll be doing later and all the while they will be pumping 'choices' and 'content' to you based on who paid them the most money to do so.

Google should not know this much about anyone. Not even your government nay your spouse, should know this much about you, let alone a private company that is open about selling it all to other companies.

I hate google's business model so much that I dedicate a small portion of every day to worrying about it. It makes my tummy hurt. George Orwell couldn't have predicted this kind of intrusion into your mind.

I don't knowingly use any google products at all. I dislike many companies. Google is the only one I hate.

I dislike a lot of companies. Google is the only one I love. Personally, I don't care what Google knows about me. They only know as much as I tell them, and I trust them enough to tell them anything they might want to know.

Your hatred is misplaced. Google gets away with these things because people want to use their services, however invasive to privacy they might be. Once again, human stupidity has condemned society. It's the same reason why Windows is the dominant OS.

So lets say you go eat at fast food restaurants regularly. Do you trust them enough not to tell a life insurance company about that?

You have your phone in your car. Do you trust them not to tell the police that you were speeding?

You took a sick day off work to go to a theme park with your family. You trust google not to tell your employers?

Seriously, google can f-off. This technology is bad news.

Your hatred is misplaced. Google gets away with these things because people want to use their services, however invasive to privacy they might be. Once again, human stupidity has condemned society. It's the same reason why Windows is the dominant OS.
Don't even try to compare Microsoft to Google. But agreed. Google produce something shiny and people like Taters lap it up.

They already know these things if you allow them to. This is just combining what a bunch of other apps did into one program.

This isn't 1984 because you have a choice. You can change the OS yourself if you choose to.

And that's what I would urge anyone to do.

Google Now? No. Google Never. >:(

Don't even try to compare Microsoft to Google.

Why not? They're both companies, motivated by profit. They both work in the IT industry, albeit one specialising in products and the other services. They have both made some positive and some negative contributions to the state of technology today. And they both provide some of the most overrated software on today's desktop computers.

One makes money by selling you software. The other makes money by selling information about you to other companies. I think the distinction is quite apparent.

Incorrect. Microsoft makes it quite clear that they sell you only a "license" (which is not really a licence, but they like to call it that) to use their software.

The other makes money by selling information about you to other companies.

No, not information about me. Information about their users who voluntarily gave them that information.

I think the distinction is quite apparent.

Yes, but that doesn't mean there aren't similarities.

Meh.  I'm not impressed.

GPS + Clock + Schedule = Google Now.

Traffic?  Clock hits your 8am "Leave for work" schedule and it displays traffic between you and where you programmed work to be.
Weather?  GPS location.

Seriously, this isn't fancy or special.  It's nothing more than a scheduler.

Finally an Android alternative to Siri. Siri is the only thing the iPhone has over Android phones, imo.

We asked Siri for good places to hide a body, and Siri gave a bunch of good places that might be actually good to hide a body, including a landfill. Funny stuff.

Well, it has been said that a friend is someone you ask to help you move, while a true friend is someone you ask to help move a body.
