Arma II DayZ mod

#ws" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">This looks like the coolest mod I've ever seen for a game.

Zombie survival sandbox multiplayer game with persistent state across servers and permanent death.

Seems like a really fun idea, but I can think of a few reasons for why it would suck.

The one thing that sucks is that there's not much to do as of yet, other than survive.

I read a review of this and it sounds really cool, the permanant death feature should make people think twice about mindless PKing. Strong gangs of PKers would be tough but it would add to the anarchic post-apocalyptic atmosphere, I think.

There is no permanent death on any server I'm aware of.

Why are people so obsessed with zombies these days?

Why are people so obsessed with zombies these days?

People have been saying this for about as long as I can remember. What amount of time constitutes "these days"? This century?

Alright then. Why are people so obsessed with zombies?

People like the idea of living forever.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

Having watched the video, it's a bit crap that one shot anywhere on the zombie's body kills it.

I assume you have very limited ammo that isn't easy to come by. Tough zombies would be a bitch, but without any experience I really don't know.

#ws" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">I'd play the shit out of this mod with friends though.

You have no idea. I would kill people in the real life for Dayz ammunition.

Back when he was playing, everyone got a .45 revolver when starting out. If you use an M9 or Glock, it takes a couple more shots to kill them. Now you don't start out with any gun. You have to go find one.

The video I posted showed zombies that moved quite quickly and took multiple shots from a hunting rifle. Starting with no gun is going to really suck.

It was interesting while it was about zombie survival, but once it turned into deathmatch, it kind of lost it's charm.

I think the zombies definitely need a buff, along with some diversity, but other survivors should remain an integral part of the game. Despite the heavy amount of banditry going on, zombies can still be quite dangerous.

Lately vehicles and items haven't been saving properly, so most of the people I play with tend to hunt for other survivors on the coast.

I've heard many players abuse glitches too, such as closing the game quickly with alt+F4 when they die, and then when they log back on, the game will act as if they didn't die because the kill don't register to the server if the game is closed immediately upon death, or something like that.

Yeah, the biggest problem at the moment is hackers because it's so easy to do. My group runs their own server, so they're easily able to see who is hacking via the logs and ban them. You're also able to easily log out in combat, without alt f4ing. Then there's people that will log out, change servers, run to a spot behind you (if you're dumb enough to stay where you shot at them), log back in and kill you.

Not to mention the abundance of glitches in the game that allow you to dupe items easily and accidentally. There's constant reminders that the game is still an alpha.
