Cazazza Dan presents Sailin' Tuns!
« on: May 28, 2012, 05:29:38 AM »
Behold, the digitalogical carapace known as the zip archive. Crack open the shell and let the juices run down your gullet and stubulated chin, it be time for much adventure on the high seas in good fictional companionship. Fantastickery and wonderment abounds as the seafaring Bandoneon of indeterminate tuning takes you on a musical journey through the age of sail! With hognominous enhancements of the aural variety provided by that noblest of knights, Parsifal, truly ye who have ears attuned to sonic events within the frequential range common to your species must attend fast and with care to the musicks presented henceforth.

Sailin' Tuns!

If the opening pitch be not to the liking of you and yours, I may respond by alerting you to a state of alertness with an automobilic horn that verily sounds thus: "ah-rooo-gah!"

(In all seriousness I made an EP and our very own Steve produced it and it is really very good, I feel. I might post my backlog of music at some point in the future, too.)

I am also downloading Sailin' Tuns. And I shall give it a listen when a chance presents itself, so at most by this weekend probably. :D

Also you should have a cover for it somehow. Just so it feels complete. :P

What's up with that story about Abílio Ezequiel?  I don't get its significance.

And then compose a superior score.

Well, did Crudblud write those songs, or did this Ezequiel guy write them?

Also, why a squeezebox?

Cause she's playing all night, and the music's all right.

Dammit, Roundy, we've had this discussion before.  Good music has no place on these forums!  Get back to talking about Cazazza Dan banging on the bandoneón.

Answers to various folks:

@Saddam
1. Abílio Ezequiel isn't a real person, there are real people with that name, but this guy is not one of them. The point of his story is to draw you in to the world I have created and make it feel more tangible. If you aren't interested in the story, that's fine, but I think the music works best when you get in to the atmosphere of the world.

2. Of course I wrote the pieces, that's also made perfectly clear in the notes. The only thing I didn't do was the production, which was handled magnificently by our own Parsifal.

3. The bandoneón (spelling error admitted), in the context of this fictional world, became popular on the trading routes between England and Argentina. It's a popular instrument in Argentine Tango ensembles (check out Astor Piazzolla for a real life reference), and I thought it would be logical to conclude that its ease of portability, double manual and large octave range would make it a fine choice. But that was retroactive reasoning, I initially chose it simply because I thought it sounded fantastic.

tl;dr: read the liner notes

@Supertails
4. Most of my releases do not have covers, mainly because I don't find them essential to the music. In the unlikely event someone orders a CD-R, I will create a cover on the spot for each order, if it ever gets to the point where this isn't feasible, then I will standardise one. Generally, I believe the range of imagery offered by the music itself more than balances out the lack of cover art.

I think that takes care of that, for now.

I did read the notes, you dong, and that was what threw me off.  I wasn't expecting some fictional back-story!  But I did like it.

Yeah, in hindsight one of those film disclaimers about fictional characters with resemblances to real people being unintentional. Oh well, I can take care of that when I re-release it with Chad Wackerman overdubs.

And thank you for listening!
