I don't know if anyone else ever has that problem, but I like my quotes neat. Like this:
Hello, S&C. How are you today?
It has the poster's name, a link to the topic, and a timestamp in it. How did I get it? Simple! I navigated to the post, clicked "quote", and copied the markup. Very simple, indeed, unless...
the thread is locked!

That leaves me with two options:
- Waste time formatting the quote myself. It can be done, but seriously, who would want to do that?
- Use a simple quote:
I am such a boring quote. 
I guess it's not too hard to add a name.
But the link and timestamp are very annoying.
lol, 1969, get it?
Now, I was thinking, maybe we could do what Wikipedia does. Even when you can't edit the article, you can still view its source. Example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page&action=editImplementing this should be incredibly simple from the technical point of view, and I'm pretty sure it would make the lives of some of us much easier! Opinions?
