Some "nobody here cares" news: If anyone else here has heard of My Chemical Romance's disbanding, then you can probably guess approximately how I feel today. The Black Parade has meant so much to me on a personal level, they made music I could identify with, that spoke to me, was occasionally incredibly cathartic, and so on. I'd been anticipating their next album eagerly, constantly on the edge of my seat any time any tidbit of news about it leaked, and now I get to know that there isn't going to be one. I am, at least for a little while, miserable and grieving. To nobody's surprise, I cried when I first read it when I woke up this morning. :[

So at the moment I'm listening to their last three albums (as the first was pretty terrible) in honour of losing one of my top few favourite bands/artists. Hopefully whatever they go on to do on their own (please, God, let them go do other projects and not quit music) will be fantastic, because I'll gladly follow each of their individual projects. I just really, really hope that whatever they go do on their own will be nearly as good as their work as an amazing collective.

Farewell, My Chemical Romance. I wish I'd discovered you earlier so I could've gone along for the ride and actually seen you live. :'(

Back when I was a young man and dinosaurs were commonplace, I used to listen to Guns 'n' Roses amongst other things, but they were my favourite band. Anyway I was eagerly anticipating their next album and I was given "The Spaghetti Incident". How that was supposed to follow Use Your Illusions and Appetite for Destruction, I don't know. And in some ways that was worse, Supertails. Rather than splitting up and leaving me with fond memories and grandiose nostalgia I am left with an entire album over covers including "Buick Mackain" and "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory". >o<

At least your band has had the good grace to die before heaping an abomination upon fans. I was relieved when Axl Rose announced he was going to put his hair in corn rows and go solo, because I knew it meant I wouldn't have to suffer any more. :'(

Don't worry Supertails, history shows that they will invariably have a reunion tour some day. Or maybe five reunion tours. And a live album from each, possibly with new songs. Famous bands never stay dead forever until members start dying.

Except for the Beatles.  And The Clash.  And Pink Floyd.  And Talking Heads.  And The Smiths.  And The Jam.  And Led Zeppelin.  And yeah, you're very wrong.

In the Beatles people started dying. Same with Floyd and the Clash. Anyways, it's just a generalization. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule.

I had no idea the Talking Heads even broke up, I just got into them a few weeks ago. That kind of depressed me.

Really? Which member of The Beatles died while the band was still together?

No, no, I mean people died, preventing them from getting back together. Not that people died while they were still together. I firmly believe that if Lennon hadn't been killed they'd have at least done a concert together at some point.

The first thing you need to understand about Talking Heads is that the band's name is just Talking Heads.  There's no "the" in there.

To be fair Tausami didn't capitalize "the," so it wasn't part of the name.  He just has poor grammar.

All three of those bands had a lot of time between their breakups and any of their members' deaths.

What he means to say is that, if the band members were immortal, at some point during the eternity left to them they would have reunited. It's simple probability.

Sadly, fate stepped in and we were thoughtlessly deprived of a 37th-century Beatles reunion. :(

Actually, Pink Floyd had a reunion in 2005, and the Clash seems to have a reunion every few years. Lennon died 10 years after the breakup of the Beetles, and Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Who, CCR, Springsteen, The Police, Yes, Rage Against the Machine, The Beach Boys and Fleetwood Mac (over and over again) have all had reunion tours. That's just off the top of my head, there are bound to be many more.

Pink Floyd have played together once or twice, but have explicitly rejected touring.  Zeppelin played a special concert back in 2007, but have also explicitly rejected retouring.  Van Halen never broke up, but they have switched out singers a few times.  The E Street Band is Springsteen's backing band, and he uses them when he needs them, so I wouldn't really call any tours he makes with them reunions in the sense we're talking about.  Creedence has never reunited, and certainly never toured again.

I consider reunion concerts to be reunions, because they clearly are, and Plant said he's open to touring again if the other two are. Revisited might as well be a reunion of Revival, and just because the E Street band is just a back-up band for Springsteen doesn't mean they didn't break up and then have a reunion. The breakup was essentially just getting fired, but it was still a breakup. I concede Van Halen, I just kind of assumed they broke up after Sammy left.

Anyway, the point is that Supes shouldn't worry too much and that they'll probably do a reunion at some point that he can go see. Is that really so controversial?

But we had been talking about reunion tours, not concerts.

The two guys who basically carried Fogerty's bags are not a reunion of Revival.

And also, I'm applying for a passport this weekend. Sadly, that money had to come from mein mater because I can't even spare $135.
Mein mater? I don't know about you, but my mother is a female and the German for mother is mutter, not mater. Other than that, awesome job. Unless of course its mien over mater, in which case, if you don't mien, it doesn't mater.

F*ck, I'm totally wasted here.  :(
