Boss just called me to let me know that there's no more hours for me and he's letting me go.  Due to the nature of our work that theoretically means the economy is getting a little better and there should be other jobs, but fuck my luck.  He told me to go ahead and finish out the weekend at least (I only work two days a week anyway), but I technically don't have to in order to get the hours I was scheduled for.  It's a pretty casual job and I'm decent friends with the rest of the crew, and someone's gotta do it anyway so I'mma just go ahead and do it.  And he's giving me a severance package of a case of beer and pizza.  Best boss ever, but still fucking shitty news.

Nah, my boss is awesome, and we'll be bros long after this anyway.  It's not his fault.  I probably already qualified for unemployment with the hours I was getting.  I was only hired on for ultra part time anyway, and there's just not enough hours to keep me on anymore.  Oh well, this is the kick in the ass I needed to go find a career anyway.

Essentially processing the work that contractors do (maid and lawns), taking care of foreclosed properties for the bank.  Better economy means less foreclosed homes on the market, less forclosed homes means less work orders for us, and less work orders means less hours.  And me being the newest recruit and only about 10 hours a week, I'm clearly the first one to go :(

Speaking of jobs, I've been super busy lately between my paid ambulance company and my volunteer ambulance corps. Currently, I am taking an interview this coming Wednesday for the EMS service run by the biggest hospital in New Jersey, located in Newark. The pay is substantially higher, I'll get hospital benefits (woot free healthcare) and an opportunity to go to school for my Registered Nurse certification and ASN Degree, with the goal of taking a BSN bridge program and challenging the EMT-P certification test to become a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. Oh, and I'll get to see some of the craziest stuff ever. Definitely excited.
