Nice.  In other geeky news, I've been kicking around idea for a Batman related short story.  I might try to find an artist to draw it and turn it into a comic.  Obviously can't make any money off of it, but I might consider submitting it to DC to see what happens.

[edit]Eh, doesn't look like they currently accept writing submissions.  Maybe if I find a good enough artist, though, I can ride in on his coattails.  Need a good writer even to make a good artist look good.  I've seen some great artwork with shit writing, and vice versa.

I've submitted about 50 job applications and gotten 4 interviews. Still no job yet.

I submitted about five job applications, got one interview (would have got a second if I didn't turn it down due to already having a job) and got one job in 2010. You must be doing something wrong.

Edit: On second thoughts, what you're doing wrong is submitting 50 job applications. Take the time to learn about each employer you're applying for, and put in the effort to show them you've done that. 10 really great applications will get you further than 50 average ones.

Just dropped about 2 grand on surgery for my cat.  He has a urinary problem where his pee hole gets blocked.  It was the third time in two years, so I had to get the surgery to completely fix it (hopefully).

I'm glad to have him home, but the next 10 days will be rough with him.  Worst week ever.

My son is going to Drexel next year.

Just dropped about 2 grand on surgery for my cat.  He has a urinary problem where his pee hole gets blocked.  It was the third time in two years, so I had to get the surgery to completely fix it (hopefully).

I'm glad to have him home, but the next 10 days will be rough with him.  Worst week ever.

You put in five applications? Wow. You must be doing something wrong. I put in one application, and a company actively fought to get me away from my old employer. Maybe instead of getting to know your prospective employer, you should get to know their entire industry.

I did not submit any applications at all, and was immediately hired as Director of Operations (North America).

It was about 1k for a night in the animal hospital when he blocked Tuesday night.  The hospitals are very expensive but it's the only place to take him when the vet is closed.  They had to unblock him, do blood tests, and urinalysis to make sure his kidneys were not damaged, also payed for anesthesia, catheter, and IV fluids there.  The next day I transferred him to my vet to discuss the next steps, given he was a habitual blocker, despite the prescription cat food that prevents stones, the only decent option was a http://www.vetsurgerycentral.com/urethrostomy.htm.  All in all the stay, prescriptions, surgery, etc was another 1k.

As you can see the surgery is pretty drastic, it's better than the alternative though, and it gives him the best possible chance at having a normal life.  The whole ordeal has taken it's toll on me as well, I'm going to the doctor Monday to see if I can get something for the anxiety.  This cat is going to put me in an early grave.

I'd have to get his permission to take her out of the country and I doubt he'd give it. But we have the custody hearing in a few weeks time.
