No email is going to have the same effect on you as a great speech will.
If the first post didn't have this sentence it may have been better. This seems to me that he's comparing apples and oranges. It completely threw me off from "the content is the same".

How did you think you were going to get a written copy of his speech?

I suppose it was a little ambiguous, but you spent far too much time on one sentence, while missing the entire point of this argument.

I guess she was being a little too... pedantic.

Lord Wilmore has now become PP out of bam guilt. Super pedantic. Wah, Presidents' and great speeches aren't the same thing. That's making a deal out of it.

You took a single sentence in my post and made a seemingly pedantic point, one that at best highlighted an ambiguity that is only present if the sentence is taken out of context. The post is perfectly clear as a whole, so I assumed you were just being pedantic for the sake of it, and responded in kind. If you genuinely misunderstood, I'm sorry, but I really don't think it was my fault.

"The content is the same" makes the point clear, which is something his first post was lacking.

Take a few of Obama's speeches. Written, they're fairly dull. Spoken, they are great examples of rhetoric. The force of the message is determined by the medium.

It's perfectly obvious that I was talking about the same speeches (i.e. content) written vs. spoken. If you misread or skimmed, that's fine, just say so. This really is a great big hoo-ha over nothing.

The Internet? I don't get emailed copies of Obama's speeches.

Yes- an ambiguous sentence can muddy an entire point. Imagine that.

I prefer talking in person, but texting is great when you aren't able to.

A lot of people seem to be focusing on the narrower application of texting instead of text as a whole.

- Text is precise; editable; printed, written, and/or digital; and universally recognized. It can be saved, reexamined, and shared.
- Speech is immediate and audible...

If someone was about to get hit by a bus while crossing the street, I wouldn't text them.

If I was asked to imagine a perfect deity, I would never invent one that suffers from a multiple personality disorder. Christians get points for originality there.
