Has it occurred to you that you love all liquor because you're an alcoholic?

Have you ever tried absinth? I doubt you'd be able to find any with a significant amount of wormwood, but you would probably still like the taste, as the only discernible flavor is that of liquorice.

If anyone has any suggestions for a good hone wine/mead, I'd be interested as well.

Mead is fairly easy to make.  There are some videos on youtube.  I made a batch a few months ago and it was delicious.

I had some really nice vodka on friday, actually tasted good and pleasant. Can't remember what brand it was though.

I've instructions to make Sima (Finnish mead), but I'd like to try an actual completed batch before I gave the real thing a try.

I didn't particularly enjoy the Wild Turkey Honey (though I heard it is better than the Jack Daniels version).  A bit to sweet for me.

I saw the JD honey whiskey at the store the other day and thought it looks good.  Maybe I'll try out the Wild Turkey one.  There's also a cinnamon whiskey I saw at Bevmo that looked interesting, called Fireball.  I'd probably love it, unless it's too sweet like cinnamon schnapps usually is.

Will it survive shipping ok?  I know air pressure and temperature will have large effect on how a batch of any wine turns out.

I've had the JD Honey.  It mixes pretty well with apple cider or ginger ale.

I did drink it straight, mixing it with ginger ale sounds pretty good.

At first I read that as "Daniel is one of the first warning signs," and I got a little scared because he posted today.

I had my last glass of the Maker's Mark tonight.  Would buy again, but anyone have any other suggestions for good, yet not bank-breaking whisky?  A friend said he liked Wild Turkey 101 more, but he also can be found drinking Natural Light so I don't know if his taste can be trusted.  Also now that I know I like bourbon, my experience with scotch is limited to a single glass of something a friend brought once that was extremely dry.  I don't remember what it called, but I seem to recall an ankh or something that looked like one on the label--I also remember it had a cork rather than a screw top.

Wild Turkey is a favourite of mine, but it's got substantially more bite than Maker's Mark -- which is why I like it, but you may feel differently.

However, the 81 proof version is most readily available over here. I've never tried the 101.

I'm not sure if I'd like MORE bite, I kind of liked Maker's Mark precisely because it didn't have a lot of bite.  Also it smells nice.  Only other whisky I've really had was Black Velvet, which was utterly disgusting.  All bite and no substance.  Even with a substantial mixing of cola it was still terrible, just terrible.  MM I enjoyed by itself.

Jameson and Tellamore Dew are good starting points if you would like to branch out into Irish Whiskey.  I would also recommend Delwars if you would like to try some scotch.
