50p coin for Olympics explains offside
« on: January 06, 2012, 12:53:55 PM »
Quote from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16414134
The designer of a 50p coin created to mark the London 2012 Olympic Games that explains the off-side rule says he hopes it will encapsulate football in one simple image.

Suddenly it all makes sense.

I lol'd.

Looks like something PizzaPlanet would have come up with. ::)

I don't like it, but I guess it's not bad for a British design.

Technically it doesn't actually explain it too well.  Nice try but I would've far preferred seeing a gymnast doing the 'hello boys.'
Why do we fall back to earth? Because our weight pushes us down, no laws, no gravity pulling us. It is the law of intelligence.

How do people not understand the offside rule? I don't even like football and I get it.

Do you honestly expect people who watch and enjoy football to understand things?

England and the rest of the UK is the same thing in the eyes of foreigners. And you Englishmen have nobody to blame for that but yourselves.
Here's an explanation for ya. Lurk moar. Every single point you brought up has been posted, reposted, debated and debunked. There is a search function on this forum, and it is very easy to use.

So who thought that explaining a dumb rule of soccer would make a good coin? Who the hell doesn't know offsides rules? You can't pass past the last defender. TA fucking DA.
