Obama in Australia

So apparently he's only here to announce a larger US Marine presence in Northern Australia. What does America think of this visit? Someone did mention that he's mostly here for votes.

Either way, seeing him hugging kids on the news is more interesting than hearing about some celebrity couple in LA breaking up.

It's not like being in the US is going to help.

He tried having a hands on approach but everyone hated what he did.
Now he's trying a "Fix it yourself" approach and everyone is hating that too.

Frankly, the man has no hope of doing anything in the US so long as he's generally disliked by the Democrats and hated by the Republicans.  He might as well go kiss babies in Australia. 

The worst part is, he's ineffective because everyone hates him, but he's still going to get a second term because all of the Republican candidates suck except for Huntsman.

See, the Republicans KNOW the Economy isn't going to turn around in the next 4 years.  So if a republican wins the White House and the economy still sucks after 4 years, they have to put their foot in their mouth and risk losing the white house and congress.
When times are tough, people hate the guys in charge.  It doesn't matter whose fault it is.

So, if the Republicans pretend to try to get elected (and fail) then they can blame the next 4 years on Obama and his evil policies so that in 10 years when the economy bounces back, they will have the white house and senate and say "Look at what we did!  We saved you all!".

They aren't stupid.  They know how shit goes down.

I'm a bit (highly) skeptical the economy, and more importantly public perception of the economy, will still be terrible in 4 years.

On the contrary, the public perception of the economy was terrible for thousands of years now, much like the old people's opinion that the youth is terrible. I doubt this will change.
