A joke is still a statement.

I've highlighted to you what Jesting is by posting a dictionary definition. Which only seems to be ok when you do so, double standards perhaps?

You choose to take it to mean i think you're not australian then so be it. Because that is very very far from my actual opinion.

Take that as you will

The definition of "jest" is completely irrelevent.

Quote
No it wasn't a statement, at all.

As I've demonstrated - anything that you say including anything that you write down - especially anything that puts forward a view - be it a completely false view that you are saying as a joke or a completely serious view - is a statement.

This line of the arguement is obviously irrelevent to the original discussion but surely you have to concede that "And the one with the most immigrants. " is a statement.  Or is The American Heritage Dictionary and dictionary.com wrong in their definitions?

It's a pretty easy choice - either it's a statement or those are wrong.  There is no other option.

No it isn't, in my original quote i said

Quote
And the one with the most immigrants. Wink (i jest)

Nuff said

Oh and to add, i could joke that all men are useless sex crazed morons but it woudln't mean that i actually have that opinion.

You've taken it out of context, believe what you like. I have explained to you and you are being obtuse enough to disreguard it, so get offended. I couldn't give a fuck.

The fact is that Sell made a comment that was offensive to pretty much everybody from Australia.  You can read through this topic to see the Australians saying so.  Instead of apologising for an offensive comment Sell is defending it.  It doesn't matter how much you defend it, people will still be offended and will still resent you.  You can feel as justified as you like and you may never understand why people were offended - it won't change the fact that they were offended.  I would view this as a test of character - you either respect the Australians on the forum and have the good grace to apologise for offending them or you defend yourself and refuse to understand that they are offended.

Not to mention that the Aussies, when pushed hard enough, will get in their chopped Mavericks and own the CRAP out of you.

LOL I fly one of those to work every day!

Also: I think we all need to calm down and take this thread as the amusing but borderline banter thread. Pls don't anyone take offense to anything being said here, as it's been stated by all that it's all in good fun. If there's anything us Aussies enjoy, it's a bit of horseplay and tomfoolery.

I think I once stated on this forum that I am a nihilist and I take nothing in life seriously (on a certain level).  Was that comment serious?  I guess you'll never know.

Thank you, that was my point.
Beast only seems to take the dictionary definition of words when it suits him. The fact is i clearly was jesting, and i clearly wasn't being factfull (bar the migration) or truthfull.
Beast just took it upon himself to be an obtuse anal sourpuss with it.
Not my fault

If i said "All men are useless sex crazed womanising wankers" as a joke it doesn't actually mean that i actually have that opinion if i was merely bantering with you. I would expect your retort to be something similar about women.
Beast doesn't seem to "get" that, so no one make any more fucking jokes around here otherwise you'll have beast the humourless int0rnet policeman on your case telling you how offended he is.

It is you who are judged.  You've insulted people because of a lack of knowledge of their culture and you refuse to apologise.  Nobody can expect you to know everything but how you react can be our only judge of your character.

You've clearly made your choice and showen us what kind of person you are.  There are plenty of examples of my humour on this forum.

No love
It is you who can't seperate a jest from reality. I've given you examples of other banter which wouldn't necessarilly mean i am making a statement about men, but you refuse to see it that way.

Think what you like, the fact is not only did i clearly write "I JEST" in brackets after the 6 letter jest, i'm someone who is the descendent of immigrants, i have faced equal hardships in my country from bigots because of my heritage, judging me on the colour of my skin tone and concluding i'm less British than they are because of those two facts. Despite the fact that i am very british and contribute to the country in the same way that they do. Why would i actually be serious in judging other people along the same vein. That would make me a hypocrite.
So why don't you just accept that you've blown mere banter out of proportion, and are now just being stubborn for the sake of it.
Everyone else can see i wasn't being serious, factual or meaning to insult australians in droves. Why can't you?

Yeah man
I don't though, i've never even had a filling. ME FTW i r000l3 br1ta1n.

British sweets are VERY VERY different to those you get in the states n such, far sweeter. So it goes without saying that a lot of people who can't afford a dentist or find an NHS dentist are suffering with their teeth. Especially if they don't know how to look after themselves.
My mother was strict with sweets, we were only allowed them once a week. I have strong bones, so i've done well with my teeth unlike a lot of people i know.

What are all the cameras for?  I hear they're going to be putting up loudspeakers now, for the people watching the cameras to speak to people.
