What will you do when he retires?  He's probably the last milkman on the planet.  :(

He's the third milkman we've had, i'm sure we'll be fine and there will always be someone to be a new milkman.
Milkmen will never leave Britain, they are legendary people who have been delivering our milk since before the english civil war.
They would even stop battles when it was delivery time, just so that the beloved milkmen would remain unharmed.

Everybody here just gets their milk from the store.  I actually saw a thing on the news recently where there was a third generation milkman who was retiring after eighty years or something.  I think he was the last one in that area.

People here get most of their milk from the shop as well.
Just depends how much you use etc doesn't it.
We like our milk delivered because we always know we'll have a pint of milk for every day, if we need more we buy more at the shop.

British people don't solely get their milk from the milkman and thats that lol. How funny that would be.

Sorry i mean we do really, and we still don't have running water n stuff like that. Or even a decent currency

Fucking hell, another two examples of people not being able to banter.

Now my joke was merely a joke, i would've liked it if someone had said something about me being a pom, a limey, drinking tea etc etc etc

BUT NO

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

No one fucking does that do they

Everyone takes my small "joke" which was merely that and nothing more, as a reason to get all high and mighty and offended and SUDDENLY turn this small insignificant joke into some massive statement on immigration and immigrants and 2nd 3rd, 4th, 1000th generation purple aliens from mars.

Learn to lighten up you bunch of knob jockeys.

If anyone had paid attention to detail they'd realise that 1. i was joking 2. it wasn't a statement on my views of immigration and their offspring and 3. i was being ironic since i'm the daughter and great grandaughter of two immigrants.

Now i know the basic level of humour most of this forums inhabitants can cope with i won't assume most people here have a brain and i'll only ever make basic childrens jokes to stop any confusement and any false interpretations in the future.

Seriously, pinch of salt fucking hell

1. south england? Wash yer moth out.

2. When did a joke become me saying i'm an authority on immigration?

Seriously, is this thread no longer "what country are you from" and suddenly "seven degrees of seperation"? Because i can't make the connection between a joke and my apparent view on immigration that i don't have.

Yes had i made a statement on immigration etc then fair enough, but i didn't.
And i'm not from the south knob jockey, and having a partner of four years does not conclude me to be a slapper...and the fact that i also have no children and am STD free.

Quote from: "Selling 230Q at $460"
LOL i meant white aussies being the immigrants

How many generations do people have to live in a country before they're not immigrants?  I was born here and have spent over 22 years in Australia and I turned 22 right at the end of July.  On one side of my family I'm 4th generation Australian (or maybe 5th, I get confused) from English decent and on the other side of my family I'm 1st generation Australian from Japanese decent.  So I'm not entirely white but does this make me an immigrant?  Where do you draw the line?  Aren't we all immigrants at some level apart from Africans (and even they have probably moved around a lot)?

For fucks sake calm down will you. I was making a joke.

I can't understand why you don't think I was calm?  While it is clear that you were making a joke, I don't think joking about people's nationality is usually very funny at all and I think you were basing your joke on a false premise.

It's very important to understand that culturally Australia (like the US and other late white settled countries or countries that have experienced significant cultural change reletively recently) is fairly culturally insecure.  We know we don't really belong here, but we don't know where we belong.  We have a lot of trouble with our national identity and so we feel defensive when we are attacked on our culture.  If you are ignorant of somebodies culture and you make a joke about it, there is a good chance you'll offend people.

Im the daughter of a caribbean immigrant and the great grandaughter of an irish immigrant on the other side. So i'm not really gonig to be fucking serious am i.

We don't know what your ethnicity or cultural background is.  Nobody on this forum (apart from TGRR) is omniscient so we don't know these things.

Learn to take some things i say with a pinch of salt will you. My joke was not a statement of my views of immigration ffs.

How could we have known that?  Even if you make a joke about something, usually it shows some of what your views are.  Perhaps next time you think of something that you think is funny, you should give it more thought before shooting your mouth off.

I said

And the one with the most immigrants. Wink (i jest)

So remove your head from your arse and understand that one small little tiny sentence wasn't taking the piss out of anyones ethnicity, just poking a little colonial fun. More the fact that England exported a great many people accross the world, and that nation was founded on it.

The person who it was aimed at took it as it was intended (Eventually) and didn't reach to this conclusion that i'm "shooting my mouth off" and apparently making some massive statement of my views on immigrants and anyone who is non white. Or how long someone has to be an immigrant before they are considered a national.

Perhaps you should give a little more thought before replying to my posts because one small sentence of six words isn't really shooting my mouth off is it.

If you don't understand Australian culture how can you possibly understand if you joke was offensive or not.  Saying that something is a joke doesn't make it any less offensive - in fact in many instances it can be more offensive because you're making light of something people take personally.

The fact is your statement - be it in jest or not - was false and I pointed out to you that it was false.  It is not funny when you just make something up with no bearing on reality.

The expression "shooting your mouth off" means saying something with little thought - it doesn't matter if you make massive statements or completely meaningless statements.  If you don't understand what an expression means I would refrain from commenting on it.  You could define you comments about "shooting your mouth off" as shooting your mouth off.

to talk too much or without thinking about something. Don't go shooting your mouth off about how much money you're earning.

I haven't said anything about your ancestors and I do not take any responsibilty for what other people say.  This is an irrelevent point.  Australian's don't view our migrant history as a bad thing, in fact many of us are proud of it.  Saying that if you aren't an aborigine you are a migrant is a completely different statement.

It's falst to say that being a white Australian makes you an immigrant.  Australians are very nationalistic.  We definitely don't like having our nationality belittled or questioned.

This has nothing to do with being politically correct.  I was simply correcting your error in suggesting that white Australians are immigrants.  There is a significant difference between being an immigrant and being the child, grand child, great grand child etc. of an immigrant.

I was pointing out that my comments had no reference to the nature of your statement - be it meaningless or massive or for that matter humourous.  I'm sorry you were unable to understand what appeared to be a straight forward point.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/statement

1. The act of stating or declaring.
2. Something stated; a declaration.

American Heritage Dictionary 4th edition 2000.

Are you honestly saying that you don't think that; "And the one with the most immigrants." is a statement?  In case you're wondering, a definition of "to state" is "to say" so you could easily and accurately define a statement as "the act of saying" - "saying" of course, does not have to mean literally speaking out loud and writing on a forum could easily be defined as "saying".  Are you therefor denying that you actually said anything at all?  That seems fairly contradictorary to the evidence of this topic.  Or do you just not understand what a "statement" is?

I definitely disagree with you being called a "slapper".  That's not the issue being debated here.  I do not want to be debating 20 different issues at once.  You may or may not find "slapper" offensive.  I didn't say it, I'm not responsible for it being said and I don't know how you feel about it.  I tend not to defend people who seem capable of defending themselves when I don't know if they want to be defended or not.

There's obviously a difference between comments that offend me, and comments that offend other people and I think it is perfectly understandable that I would react to a comment when I know how I feel about it but not react to comments that aren't particularly relevent to me and that I don't know how other people feel about them.

Since i clearly didn't say that being australian definately makes you an immigrant if you're not an aboriginal. I infered as a joke that you were. It wasn't contrete truth, i didn't say that i view anyone who's descended from non indigenous populace any less or more australian than their ethnically indigenous counter parts.

Yes it has everything to do with being PC.
You have taken something i did NOT mean as derogatory or even fact completely out of context and you've chosen to be offended by it. For the sake of an argument it may seem.

Yes i'm very aware of thr fact that being descended from immigrants doesnt' make you an immigrant, being a descendant and 2nd generation from 1 immigrant and the 4th generation from another immigrant. You're telling me nothing new son. And i didn't profess to have the opinion that people who are descended from immigrants are still immigrants.
you took that upon yourself to make that opinion for me.
