If they decide to go with a monthly fee, I certainly won't be a customer.

my guess is that they are planning on doing that.

It'll probably be monthly for a while and when that's not sucessful they'll go F2P probably.  or at the least it'll be Guild Wars style where you buy the game and it's free to play.

I found STO to be pleasant.  Lots of nice players.  Angry forums.  And a lot of player created missions.

My biggest complaint is that the cool episodes they create are released too slowly.  And the grinding is seemingly pointless once you get a high enough level of gear.

The Forsworn situation is wholly different to the current plight of the Nords.

Please elaborate.

The Forsworn are terrorists who murder innocents.

Did anyone else spend their childhood in the wilderness? Runescape was so grindy.

Just wait for Skyrim II: Return of the Dragonborn.  A new Action RPG developed by Square-Enix under Bethesda's direction.  You play a Visual Kei stylized character who meets a ragtag group of equally stylish, androgynous characters on the way to defeating the evil Aldmeri oppressors (who also threaten to destroy the world in some epically overstated way or another).  Coming November 2012.

I shuddered.

Attention people of FES.  I have decided to buy Morrowind through Steam, as I have never played it before.  Is this a good decision?

Very good decision.  BUT, chances are you'll get better enjoyment out of it with a few choice mods.  Personally the gameplay is pretty good by itself but the graphics haven't aged super well: I suggest Better heads and Better Bodies at the very least because the original character models were seriously ass.  Also Morrowind Graphics Extender along with some decent texture packs.  The stock world textures look fine IMO, but can't hurt to make it look a little better.

Well you could just google those things I mentioned, but also http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/

Pretty much all you ever need to do for Morrowind is extract the mods to your "data" folder in the game folder and you're good to go.

Morrowind has one of the most fanatical modding communities of any game, and properly modded the game looks, in many ways, better than some modern titles. When I get home in a few hours I'm going to take and post a few screenshots with my modded setup. I've been tinkering with my collection of mods for about a decade, so it's essentially perfect perfection. New mods are being released all the time, though. I'll also write a quick guide explaining MGE installation, or at least find a good one.
