The Earth is flat judging by other Planets???
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:11:35 PM »
when astronomers look up in the sky they see a planet called Venus or Mars. i looked at Venus one time and found that it was spherical, so if Venus is a spherical planet, then why is Earth flat!!!

Because Earth is not a "planet" like the others (I use planet in the loosest sense of the word) and it did not form the same way as other planets, as it did not form "with" gravity and form to a spherical planet.

So other objects were formed by gravity and not the Earth?

Yes, that is like saying why does that guy have 3 eyes and we have 2, I is just a different celestial object.

So what created the Earth completely different?

Who knows, we are still debating if a god created the Earth.

So you don't know?

No one really knows how things really came about, just take the logical answer and build on that.

Earth being flat is not a logical answer regarding the question of creation.
The logical answer is that Earth is round, because every star were created spheric. Why should it be different?

If everything else in the heavens that has sufficient mass is round, as far as we can tell, then why does the Earth not follow the same laws?  Is it because the Earth does not have sufficient mass?

I believe that other planets are the same shape as the Earth. They are the same shape as a raindrop or a hamburger bun - flat on the top, round on the bottom. They appear round when viewed from the Earth because we are always looking at them from below.

That is possible since we can only see them from one direction.  However, how do you explain that they appear to rotate globular style?

Raindrop-shaped objects can still rotate, can they not?

If they are fluid, then I do agree.  However, that would mean that you are assuming that everything in the sky is fluid in nature.
