The Paradoxes of the flat earth society
« on: September 18, 2011, 11:40:29 AM »
1. The flat earth society is demanding proof that the earth is spherical. However, if the world were flat, it would be the easiest thing in the world to prove. All you'd have to do is fly an airplane to the so called Antarctic wall. If the plane see the edge of the earth, then I will believe the earth is flat. If not, then the earth spherical. I am inclined to believe that the plane will not reach the edge of the earth because in the 3 million years of human existence, no one has ever beheld the edge of the earth (and it is for this reason that the spherical earthers sprung up in the first place.

2. That flat earth society demands proof of the world being spherical, and while we have supplied that proof many times over, they refuse to believe any proof of it.

What is it you wish to debate?  That flying to Antarctica is the easiest thing in the world?  I disagree.  I also  doubt that humans have existed for three billion years.  As for paradox, do you mean something like, "If this sentence is true, then Germany borders China?"

Oh yeah? How about you watch the interview of Daniel Shenton on youtube? (btw Daniel Shenton is the leader of the flat earth society).

I was exaggerating when I said flying to Antarctica is the easiest thing in the world, but it certainly is easier than flying into space and taking pictures of a spherical earth (that by the way have already been taken) and showing them to flat earth society members who refuse to believe them.

As for humans living for 3 billion years, sorry that was a typo, I meant million (that was when the Australopithecus afarensis lived).

And the paradox about the flat earth society is that it demands evidence of a spherical earth while they refuse to believe any of it, and they propose a much less likely model for the shape of earth but they claim the burden of proof is on spherical earth people.

On the point of what I want to debate about, the flat earth theorists seem to have the uncanny ability to make a debate out of any statement. I was relying on that ability (which Mrs. Peach seems to have) while making my post.
