This flat earth theory is complete hogwash

OK, so I watched an interview with Daniel Shenton. He said that no one has given sufficient proof of the fact that the earth is round. Well, I'll prove it to you right here.

1. The distance around the equator (or what us spherical earthers say is the equator) is 40075.04 kilometers. If you don't believe it measure it yourself.

2. The distance around the coast of Antarctica is around 18,000 kilometers. If you don't believe it, measure it yourself.

Now, according to your theory, Antarctica is very close to the edge of the disk earth. The equator, (or where we say the equator is) is on the inside and forms a smaller circle around your disk shaped earth. If your theory was true, then the antarctic circle should have a circumference of more than twice the equator. This is not the case. In fact, the equator is twice as long as the antarctic coastline.

Therefore, your theory is false.

Ok. So you guys are unwilling to do anything to prove the earth is not round, but us spherical earthers have proven the earth is spherical many times over. Only you refuse to believe it. So, for you to believe any proof that the earth is spherical, you have to find the evidence yourself.

I'll propose a method of measuring the distance around the equator, though.  First, record the mileage on your car. Then drive across Africa and into Asia, then all the way to the east china sea. Subtract the start mileage from the end mileage. It should be about 8 thousand kilometers. Then, take a boat across the pacific, and figure out the mileage. The mileage on your car plus the mileage on the boat should add up to 18000 kilometers, about, and you haven't even gone around the disk.

Then, sail around Antarctica and add up the mileage. It is 18,000 kilometers.

According to your disc shaped earth, this makes no sense.   ;D

do you know an easier one shine a laser at the moon and see the reflectors we put there. When you see them you'll see we went to the moon. space flight is possible and the earth is round.

Is this sarcasm? Because I'm pretty sure the most unreasonable suggestion is the proposition that the earth is flat. If you don't believe any evidence anybody is giving you, then you simply have to find it yourself.

Just to save people's time, I suspect you will see the bendy light argument show up to try to explain the Antarctica coastline data away...

The only visible proof of bendy light occurs when there's a sun eclipse where you can observe the "gravitational lense" effect of the sun.

And the light doesn't bend that much.

Buy or borrow a telescope!

Yes, we do: you're simply wrong. Obviously testing this at the moment would be impractical, but it is quite obvious that you are wrong in your estimates. After all, they don't make sense on the Flat Earth.

If you don't believe the established measures of the Antarctic coastline measure it yourself. That is the only way you'll know.

In vector calculus, it has been proven that a sufficiently smooth 3D manifold (such as a sphere) can be locally approximated by a plane. A flat Earth is a decent approximation of the Earth in any small region. However, as you attempt to extrapolate this approximation to further and further from where you started, the approximation breaks down and you need spherical geometry for a better approximation.
