You can eat blackberries raw. The seeds are minuscule!

BTW if you are going to try blackberries my research has shown its a good idea to remove the seeds.  You are going to need a food mill for that.  Let me know if you want some info on one.

I wouldn't bother with removing blackberry seeds, just make jelly if you can't deal with the little crunchies in your teeth.  Elderberry jelly is good but time consuming because of the seeds.  And find some bushes that aren't along power lines so you know they haven't been sprayed with something weird.

Well I havent done blackberry yet so I don't know.  It was just something I read.  I actually have my eye on a triple berry recipe that included blackberries though.

http://www.englishpage.com/modals/can.html

"Can" is one of the most commonly used modal verbs in English. It can be used to express ability or opportunity, to request or offer permission, and to show possibility or impossibility.

Examples:

I can ride a horse. ability
We can stay with my brother when we are in Paris. opportunity
She cannot stay out after 10 PM. permission
Can you hand me the stapler? request
Any child can grow up to be president. possibility

Hmm fair enough. Seems like a lot of outlay though. I'd just keep the jars hot and let them make their own vacuum.

The hot water bath also probably serves a final chance for pasteurization.

I might have to give the jam a go, blackberry season is coming soon.

Nah, I've had blackberry jam with seeds in before and you certainly can eat them raw, I love that they grow just about anywhere so you can eat them whenever!

Yeah, we kicked one up about 11pm on our walk back to camp.  That was the only one I saw.

I made my own rabbit stew.  It's a combination of some ones I found online.  I usually just fry and eat.  Thought i would experiment with something new.
