He IS the Earth's savior. Not a PTSD-induced psychotic vigilante. He is a true hero and a truly good person, he's not supposed to be grim and gritty in tone, he's supposed to be the shining light of hope. Not the vengeful spirit of justice, as Batman is portrayed.

I agree, he definately is not batman, he certainly isn't supposed to be happy and perfect either.  Superman has his own internal conflicts because of what he is expected to live up too.  Otherwise he would be completely boring.

Yeah, even the big guy should have his struggles sometimes.

None of that means that the costume has to be turned all dark and gothic.

Is it me or does Superman's image directly reflect the mood of the US?

The cape looks like it weighs a ton.  For a mortal man.

Sorry, precise muscle control prevents him from doing that even in his sleep. Still, that is a possibility while under mind control...

Amy Adams as Lois, really?  I think she's a little too old for that role, especially if they plan on making sequels.  Also, Zod just looks silly.

I've just never been much of a superman fan, he always just seemed to OP to me, and not human enough.  But then again I have not read many if any comics about him, nor have I seen any movies except parts of the one with kevin spacy, which I was too bored to complete.  Perhaps this one will be better, but it still looks a bit, unrelatable to me.

I used to read the Superman comics when they did the reboot back in the mid '80s.  Before the reboot, Superman was quite campy, but he got a lot more serious after the reboot.  Granted, not as gritty and dark as Batman, but Superman still had to deal with some heavy story lines (such as getting killed by Doomsday).

I don't really care about this movie, even though it'll probably be good. Can't wait for Pacific Rim, though.

The writing for newer superman comics has been better, but he's still a difficult character to relate to.  I'll probably watch the movie just because of the inevitable Justice League movie in a few years.

I never did buy into Bill's Clark Kent vs Superman logic.  Anyone with a secret identity and powers that are "always on", so to speak, face the same dilemma.

To add to that, Bruce Wayne may not have been born Batman, but when he makes the transition he most definitely IS Batman, and Bruce Wayne is very much the alter ego.
Nomad is a superhero.

That movie looks incomprehensible. Just lots of things blowing up for no real reason. A fireworks show which tries to take itself seriously. I predict a bad movie.

Really? I actually think it's going to be pretty good. Maybe that's 'cause Nolan's involved and I have high hopes for anything he touches, but it'll be neat to see Superman in a different context. I've never liked the character much.
