I am an astronomer and a pilot, I have a non in-flamatory question for you.

I really don't want to shuffle this to the debate forum, but I understand if the moderators feel it necessary.  I did not come here to debate (at least not to this forum), I like to understand others line of reason.

I can easily prove 100% of the claims in your FAQ to be completely false.  I can do this with empirical evidence observed by my own eyes and devices.  Also photographs can be arranged.

My question is this, will you care to listen? Or will you just accuse me as being part of the global conspiracy?

Hey, look. Another pilot astronomer.

I can easily prove 100% of the claims in your FAQ to be completely false.
Go on.

Hey, look. Another pilot astronomer.

Is either one rare?  They certainly didn't seem rare in college.

Before I'd even begin the undertaken of addressing your FAQ. (Which incidentally is full of dead links, and your wiki is not working showing me you either don't really care to update it, or don't have viable information to maintain it.  Which then compels me to question if it is even serious.

Of course you didn't answer my question, would you just dismiss me as part of the conspiracy?  Rudimentary astronomy and geometry easily prove your statements implausible.

It's just that we get someone who claims they're both a pilot and an astronomer (in rarer cases, astronaut; sometimes - astrologer, God(tm) knows why). They rarely speak the truth, so some of us (or, at the very least, I) grew skeptical of such claims.

Or we've only just got back up after a hacking incident; thanks for the insinuations, though. Now I feel less bad about throwing accusations at you.

Of course you didn't answer my question, would you just dismiss me as part of the conspiracy?
No. We don't dismiss people or their ideas.

Well I'm certainly Not an astronaut and I don't want to give the impression that I'm a commercial airline pilot, I also think we can leave these claims out, considering you obviously will not accept any aviation related answer I provide.  Astronomy though, is something you can verify with a cheap pair of binoculars.

My apologies, but what is taking so long?

No. We don't dismiss people or their ideas.

This statement is inconsistent with your complete dismissal of every single human being who works for NASA, Academia, The Government, and the private sector.  Which pretty much means everybody.  Would you care to correct that sentence?

The administration of this site truly sets a new standard. A new low standard. However, most of us have no way of affecting this situation.

This statement is inconsistent with your complete dismissal of every single human being who works for NASA, Academia, The Government, and the private sector.  Which pretty much means everybody.  Would you care to correct that sentence?
I would like to correct your sentence. No dismissal of people or their ideas takes place. The support for such ideas is a different matter entirely. Speaking of which: You're about to provide yours, aren't you?

Experiment then.  Purely hypothetical, what would you say if I said I had personally been in space and seen the Earth?

I would ask for your name.
I saw a slight haze in the hotel bathroom this morning after I took a shower, have I discovered a new planet?

As to what my response would be, would depend entirely upon the statement you were trying to make.

If you provided evidence of your trip, I would accept the possibility of a round Earth.
However, this is an entirely hypothetical situation, and one that is entirely impossible to ever happen. I see no point in discussing it.

It is relevant, because weather or not you are going to listen or accept information is an important factor.

Also this situation is not entirely hypothetical, as Astronauts do exist and offer all the evidence and first hand accounts you could ever want.

 Why do you dismiss them?

I dismiss them depending on whether or not they can spell commonly used words.  ::)

Thanks for showing me something I already know is there.  You would be better served trying to stay on topic as deviations such as this only will serve to make you look foolish.  Secondly, the mods frown on off topic conversations in these here parts.

Notice by the 10th post everyone has already forgotten what the OP was about and is merely here to continue feeding the trollfest.

It's a common technique employed by those that can only win an argument by default.
Scepti, this idiocy needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. You are making a mockery of this fine forum with your poor trolling. You are a complete disgrace.

Yes.  Reread the whole of the quote box.  To surmise, you say it is important to listen to first hand accounts and ask why are we not?  I simply reply that if it seems the first hand account lacks credibility due to some bad spelling, among other things, then it may be a legit excuse.
