I am in favor of this, than it could be seen by their own eyes that the Earth is definitely a sphere.

I have spent hundreds of hours in the air and have never seen any curvature of the earth. I have never seen pictures from balloons that look like a sphere, either. I'm not sure what your point is here.

TheEngineer, a pilot who posts on this forum, tells us that he has not witnessed curvature on any international flight.

Quote:

"I believe I said that I put myself through college working for an airline, thus having access to free flights around the world.  I also worked for a private FBO, in which the owner owned a Cessna Citation.  I am also a licensed pilot.  Not once, during any of the hundreds if not thousands of flights I've been on, have I ever witnessed the curvature of the Earth."

Have you even been past 35k feet?

Just go to a edge of space flight and look down and see where the continents are...

its not impossible.....but be carefull when you exit the plane on the way down from the cockpit you might have an AK pointed at your head and become a part of the conspiracy

Interesting. The brochure even says "see the curvature of the earth." 16,000 Euros seems cheap for an opportunity for an FE'er to fly to the edge of space and disprove everyone from Galileo to Newton. After all, when you prove that the Earth is flat up there, they will even have to give you a refund because you didn't see the curvature like it says in the brochure. The whole "cost prohibitive" or impossible to prove theory flies out the window (literally) once again. Heck, I would kick in about five hundo for the admin of this board to go up there, if we can video it. Any other takers?

I doubt we can raise 16k euros..

The main fact is it would disprove their theory then they would have nothing to argue about

I don't know, maybe we couldn't. 500 isn't much to kick in. However, it would make a great viral video. Maybe a talk show or comedian with tons of cash would do it if we farmed it out and pitched it to the right people in hollywood. Joe Rogan might do it, he does a routine about going up in a mig (which he has already done) Your average rock star wastes this much when they trash a hotel room. It isn't too outrageous of a price. That's what...a new car? You would think that FE'ers would spend that just to shut us all up and make millions off of the movie rights. Like I've said before, it's not very cost prohibitive if you could use it to prove the earth was flat then turn around and make millions off of the book rights. More like a petty investment. Unless!  you're afraid that you might just be wrong *makes chicken noises* All I need is one FE'er willing to even try, then I will find the funds. Facebook is a powerful tool. Of course, if they are wrong, they owe me the 16000E back. If they are right...free ride in a mig and proving the Earth is flat once and for all! I will sit back and wait for the crickets to chirp away.

your actually right that can work

basically if your sure the earth is flat go up and see for yourself and get a free ride otherwise pay up...

also its not just celebrities and rock stars...I think I know that company that launches those Migs in Russia. I have been to Moscow plenty of times and if its the company im thinking of their constantly booked. you have to schedule like 2 months ahead. they also fly

Mig-31(higher altitude than Mig-29
SU-27
and the L-39

and people take these flights all the time..........i guess they become a part of the flat earth conspiracy when they land ::)

Aaaaah, I see what you did there. Yes, running it as a promo for the company is a great idea. Call it the "Flat Earth Challenge." They could make a fortune. Well not a fortune, because I'm sure noone would actually take it. Simply contacting the right person there may make it to where noone would have to pony up anything. You'd simply have to find a FE'er who believes in his nonsense enough to take the challenge. So I guess the question stands, will any FE'er take the challenge? If not, we'd love to hear your back peddling...err..*cough* ahem, excuse as to why not. I bet the word "fake" comes up...you want to take that bet?

Why don't you get Mr. "I have 60 Million Dollars" to pay for one of us to go to space -- Oh wait, they aren't doing space tourism right now. How convenient for you.

I don't have the money to throw away to take a trip to Russia to take a high altitude flight to see less curvature that I can see from high-altitude balloon photos. Neither would I be impressed by the amount of curvature apparent in those photos, as it is exactly what I expect to see; you would know this of course, if you actually read or comprehended any of the myriad of posts already made on this subject.

If you checked the links, they have American packages too,( you don't have to go to Russia) it's an international company. Noone is asking you to pay for it. The question was, if someone else footed the bill, would a FE'er even go? or are they afraid that they will become part of the conspiracy, or fall out of the sky or whatever ludicrous excuse they can come up with. I have a feeling that even if a rented car showed up to pick you guys up and it was all paid for, you would find some other excuse not to prove your ridiculous and outrageous theories. There were so many parts of that question in the first place that people like Ski avoided it isn't even funny anymore...just sad. As far as Mr. 60 million dollars goes, he could save a bundle. Maybe we should talk.

The Concorde purportedly flew that high.

But, the point that people are trying to make is that you can take a ride in a military vehicle that will go that high.

No, you can take a ride in a military vehicle which will pretend to go that high, and will merely project an image of curvature via the windows.

I don't know why people keep saying this as if it's true.  The altitude required to observe curvature depends greatly on your field of view.
