What has FE science given to the world? --> Really bad math

I visited this website because I refused to believe that there were still people believing the earth is flat. But, religious people have done it again: they have gone back in time and knowledge for a few hundred years.

I have replied to the question in the topic name, and proposed FE gave us really bad math. This is because in another post, some guy (Tom Bishop) gave "conclusive evidence" for the flatness of the earth because he could see playing children 30 miles further, backed-up by mathematics that gave me the shivers. Unfortionately, this post was closed.

To steer you in the right direction, mathematically speaking, Tom, think of drawing a straight line from your point of view to a point 30 miles away on the surface , the rest is easy. Just calculate the height of the water by calculating the line that exists after 15 miles between the surface and the theoretical line of sight. And by the way, see what happens if you take your length into consideration as well.

One question for all you 'believers': do you really think that you people have a monopoly on the truth, despite the fact that numerous extremely intelligent people, some named by other 'sane' people, have proven you wrong even hundreds of years ago? Have you even had a proper education containing courses of science? Unbelievable...

And now, you silly bunch of religous apologetics, pleasy tell me this website is a hoax, so I can go on thinking that creation theory still is the dumbest theory I have ever heard in my life. Hate to see that disappear to a second place.

Best regards from the Netherlands,

Sander

Elaborate. If the earth is round it should be impossible to see children at that distance, regardless of 'length'.

What has FE science given to the world?

We have proven that the Earth is flat and that dinosaurs are intelligent. We have discovered new civilizations (dinosaurs, moonshrimp). We have exposed a global conspiracy (NASA, KFC). We have discovered  a new drug and truth serum (phosphorus). We have detected the harmful properties of moonlight. We have learned telepathic communication. We have conducted numerous experiments to prove our excellent theories. We have found the real explanation for many natural phenomena. We have telepathically comunicated with intelligent beings on other planets.

Those are some of our most important discoveries and achievements. Of course, the list could go on and on.

Actually a huge amount of mathematics assumes the earth to be flat any way. Calculate the gradient of a road or river. Do you add the curve of the earth in for something like that or assume earth is flat? For a River like the Nile or Amazon this has profound effects. And yet with no globular correction you can still use that data to get accurate numbers for flow speeds or fuel requirements on road trips. FE maths cannot be poopooed!

You also presume all surfaces are flat if thats how your calculating it (no kinks in the road, no rocks in the stream), one of the major factors in data collection is generalization and to what extent we can get away with it whilst providing a reasonable conclusion.  the slope in the example would more than likely be a great deal more than the earths curve along that line and so is considered negligible. (I presume in my response you are only using a simple triangle calculation)

further more on our fuel consumption point we don't take into account the weather when planning these either... does that mean weather systems don't exist? or does it instead mean that the model of car we drive has a greater bearing on fuel consumption than the weather does?

FE science has been around longer than Crusty. The oldest and the newest book about FE is ENaG written sometime in the 1800's.  I don't think Crustinator is that old. Therefore I believe it was FE science that gave us crusty. Congradulations on your work with Crusty. Keep up the good work.

There is more sense in what was stated there than saying that the Earth is round.  Plain and simple, the roundness aspect that some believe in is ludicrous and is on the rock bottom of reason. One day you will see things our way.

We do not need maths to look at the horizon and see that it is flat.
