Fundamentally, it is no different to what you've said; you are creating stereotypes for how two groups of people are supposed to behave, and then drawing a conclusion based on those stereotypes and not on reality.
I am consistently amazed by how Western culture, with all of its outlaws and taboos on specific categories of discrimination, accepts gender stereotypes without question.
