Well, Firefox is pretty good, but it's a bit like a luxury yacht. It's got all the bells and whistles with lots of options to add or subtract, but it's very clunky and a bit impractical because it tends to slow my system down. Chrome is a bit like a jet engine strapped to a steel frame. It's fast. That's about it. Internet explorer, to continue the vehicle analogy, is like a rusty old pick-up that lost the muffler. That you've got on loan from a greedy bastard who wants you to pay rent-a-car fees for it. It's pretty shit.
Here's an explanation for ya. Lurk moar. Every single point you brought up has been posted, reposted, debated and debunked. There is a search function on this forum, and it is very easy to use.

Firefox is like a pimp-ass-motherfucking car that Vin Diesel drives and wins all the races with.

Iceweasel (rebranded Firefox) is my web browser of choice, but with its current problems on GNU/kFreeBSD, I am having to use Midori instead.

A major drawback for Chromium/Chrome is its lack of portability; while Iceweasel extorts my CPU on GNU/kFreeBSD, Chromium won't even build on it at all. In fact, at the time of writing, it only builds successfully on 2 of the 11 architectures supported by Debian (compare with Iceweasel, which builds on all 11, plus 1 non-release architecture). While it may be useful to some, a non-portable web browser cannot possibly be considered universally the best.

Opera.

Opera is portable to an even lesser degree than Chromium. Please try again.

Chrome.  Insanely fast and, in my opinion, very user friendly.  I especially like how easy it is to sink browsers across different computers (a common feature, I'm guessing, but still nice).

I think we can at least all agree that IE sucks.  Most other browsers are debatable.

For which OS?

Please see my statement on portability. For a web browser -- or, indeed, any program -- to be considered truly great, it should not matter which OS we are talking about.

Firefox is the only major web browser that has both:

a) been ported to at least four major platforms, and
b) been released as free software, so that it may easily be ported to any new platform.

Chromium is catching up, but it is not quite there yet.

Thus, Firefox is undisputably the best general-purpose web browser of all those with significant market share, and possibly overall. Please note that while some other web browser may be better suited to your own purposes, this does not make it any better a general-purpose web browser.

If you've never used other browsers, like Firefox or Chrome, I think you'd be suprised how poorly IE compares.

I have no speed issues on any but my system is powerful enough to hide any differences.

I don't use IE because I hate their parser.

Chrome. IE9 is basically a rip-off of Chrome, and Safari is kinda meh.
