This site is awesome!
« on: March 27, 2011, 10:53:25 PM »
I must say... having read a few threads (including the FAQ), I've never been more entertained by a discussion forum.  This stuff is even more priceless than the religious folks bad-mouthing evolution.

Now I do realize that there are quite a few participants who are here "tongue-in-cheek", but it seems there are a smattering of folks here who actually do seem to believe that the Earth is indeed flat.  I'm going to enjoy reading the threads of your site.   :)  This stuff is great!

You've just made your first step onto a path of learning and wisdom. It's good that you're first reading the threads around here. I advice you to also read Earth Not a Globe (often just mentioned as ENaG on this site).
Good luck on your journey!

"it helped open my mind"

What did it open your mind to, exactly?

previously i had known that a sinister conspiracy ruled the US. it had become evident to me (via alex jones and other scholars) that a satanic cult (the illuminati to be exact) were in firm control over our country and there policy decisions ruled our lives. i knew all about how bohemian grove was used to perform satanic sacrifices to the demon owl-god moloch (google it on youtube to watch it). furthermore i also was beginning to come to realize that 9/11 was conspiratorial and that our elections were being rigged. just look at how john kerry and george bush were a part of skull and bones together! the whole 2004 election was a hoax!!!!

but i didnt know how evil the conspiracy was. i now have come to realize that the moon landings never happened and that i could not be sure of the earth's shape (im an ESA meaning earth shape agnostic). i came to realize that i couldnt be completely sure. after all climate gate showed us that global warming was all just a big myth anyways. i now realize that i cant be completely sure of modern science, dont know how far the illuminati have gotten there.

thanks for asking

It helped open my mind too... but not in the same way as some others...

It has helped me to learn to take a step back and look at something that I have previously held as truth and ask myself:  "Why do I believe this?"  "What personal experiences do I have to justify my faith that 'such and such' is truth?"

It has helped to open my mind to consider other possibilities, no matter how ludicrous them may seem to be... and I have learned a lot about debate and rhetoric and even got a chance to hone some of my logical processes.

They have failed to convince me (yet) that the earth is indeed Flat or that there is some grand conspiracy to keep people thinking that the earth is round instead of flat, despite all of the flawed experiments/conclusions and circular logic that I have witnessed.

What shape do you believe all of the planets and moons within our solar system are?

obviously round. thats not an argument that proves the earth is round though. for all we know the earth could be an infinite plane in space!

Well I must agree with you there.  The fact that all of the planets, moons and even the Sun in our solar system are spherical, doesn't necessarily prove that the Earth is.  In your opinion, why do you suppose all of those planets and moons are the shape they are?

Have you read or heard that the reason planets and  moons and such are round is due to gravity?

(Sorry... this site still has some issues with the replying)
