Your stars are all wrong

We all know in the Northern Hemisphere the stars appear to rotate around Polaris.

Unfortunately for FET the Southern Hemisphere stars rotate around octantis.

This would be impossible in a FE as there would be no southern pole star.

FE responses to this obvious fallacy vary from bendy light to not believing/not understanding the evidence presented to them.

Orientation for the newcomer :P, this entire forum is more a practice area for trolls and people trying to corner trolls than an actual serious debate concerning a flat earth. There are very few (if any) people that actually believe in FE. Of course the trolls will state otherwise. I suggest you judge their behaviour for yourself.

You could try watching the video.

You can tell it isn't Polaris because in the video you see two NGCs which aren't present next to Polaris.

This is to be fully expected. The heavens turn in different directions above you depending on where you are. They are driven by celestial gears. Whilst giving you photographic evidence of the inner workings of the universe would be impossible (It is like asking to see God's work bench) the Flammerion Woodcut below helps illustrate this well understood principle.

The gearing is depicted top left of the picture. Note how this man peers under the veil of the sky as kneels by the earths edge.

The woodcut is from Camille Flammarion's 1888 book L'atmosphere: meteorologie populaire ("The Atmosphere: Popular Meteorology").

1.  This doesn't explain why the pole star ocanatis is always within 2 degrees of due south, regardless of geographic location.  This is impossible on a flat earth regardless of which gear mechanism you use.

2.  The FE wiki shows:

LOL I admire your ways. You manage to speak of even the most utter BS as though it is serious business.
Scepti, this idiocy needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. You are making a mockery of this fine forum with your poor trolling. You are a complete disgrace.

the gear theory has been debunked due to there is no one to lubricate them.
any good millwright will tell you that

This is fairly typical of FET.

See, anyone can invent an explanation involving celestial gears, bendy light or invisible unicorns to describe how this could occur on a flat earth. The problem is that it's massively complex in itself and doesn't remain consistent with the myriad of other theories used to explain away the other problems.

However, when you show them a solution to the problem that avoids all these contradictions, is geometrically provable and is incredibly simple and elegant, they'd rather cry conspiracy and go back to wrestling with their flying unicorns.

That's why no argument ever reaches a conclusion on this forum.

Enjoy your stay.
