It was not a jab at American children being alcoholic, and it wasn't a humorous quip about the correlations between drinking during pregnancy and fetal brain damage either, the "mother" in this case being the motherland. The latter, however, it was supposed to be. I'm so sorry, and I shall never attempt to crack wise again.
