Time Zones
« on: February 04, 2011, 04:04:45 AM »
Say the earth IS flat, explain how different time zones are possible when the sun is in the same postion for all locations at the same time,

I don't suppose a giant cloud just blocks out a few countries periodically

Read the FAQ.

Irrelevant. Answer my question and don't sidestep like the stupid FAQ does.

Not enough evidence?

It's meant to be a moving spotlight I believe, although the precise workings of it are not known to me.

I hadn't noticed Parsifal's eyebrows before. I have no particular opinion of them.

Ok, plausible. However, explain the solar and lunar eclipses. Do the batteries run out in the spotlight sometimes? Or is it a malfunctioning solar spotlight?

I do have half a brain. You jelly?

About eclipses, there's a dark celestial body somewhere, that somehow blocks the sun periodically.

I'll say this once, and it's more than you deserve, so be grateful.

We get noobs like you joining every week. They all think they're the first one in the six-year history of this forum to ask how time zones work, or how gravity works, or why we haven't reached the speed of light yet. They all get indignant when we tell them to read the FAQ, or to lurk, and they all seem to think our purpose for existence is to cater to their childish wants.

What these people all have in common is that they chose to come here, create an account, and start posting this crap. We didn't ask for their presence; hell, most of them are boring enough that we don't even want them here. We have to put up with this week after week, because some people just can't understand that we want to do anything other than answer the same dumb questions over and over again. Yet for some reason, they seem to feel that we owe them answers -- answers, mark you, that they could easily find themselves if only they would do a bit of lurking.

Well, you're not the first, you're not even the hundredth, and you won't be the last. You're just another one of the thousands of noobs that come and go on a weekly basis. We don't want to answer every imbecilic question that synthesises its way into your vacuous skull, because you won't even be here in another fortnight. We know you won't be here because if you cared enough to stay, you'd have lurked instead of assuming we want to spoon feed you knowledge like every other stupid noob that passes through this joint.

So please, spare us your inconsequential demands, and just leave.

Besides not answering questions in detail,
The FAQ author has alos stated that the FAQ is just his own opinion and not based on anything factual.

So we shouldn't be upset when new people come in and they want further explanation other then the FAQ until it is rewritten.

would be great if the FAQ got updated though it doesnt hold much water. perhaps make it ore formal with better evidence to support it, perhaps people will take the site more seriously. could force new accounts to read it first, ofcourse they can skip it but stop ignorant posts

You jelly?

1)  You repeatedly using the word "jelly" to illicit a response from Parsifal isn't amusing, nor is it clever in any respects.

2)  Dude, if you don't have anything (A, original, B, comprehensible, or C constructive) to add, leave/lurk/don't post.  You're only the seven-thousandth person to say all of the things you've already said.

Is sad thinking he made someone sad.
BTW what is 4chan?

4Chan is a... image board divided in several categories, being /b/ (random) the most crazy, perverted, funny, disgusting and interesting one, all at the same time.

I'm a 4channer, a.k.a. "annonymous" too, but it's pathetic how some people can't keep the memes and recurrent sentences for appropriate contexts. See: Maximoz

Personally I just go to the 4chan archives.

I don't feel like having to look through the pages and pages of cam whores and shock-value pictures at /b/ to find one funny thread.

Did I make you sad?

Berny

Nope! Your little afterthought things were/are original and funny.

Time in itself does not exist, we humans came up with it to measure our daily cycle and to better organize and manage our daily activities.

The guy asked a question about time zones. They are man made and therefore can't be argued in favor of round earth.

Time zones in the way that we measure time are man made, but the way that the sun shines it's light on different parts of the Earth creating those time zones, is not.
