I made an Identi.ca a while ago, but I never really got into it until recently, when I heard that the Debian squeeze release would be commentated on it. But before I go into any more detail, I will answer the question I know you're all dying to ask...
What the $@#!&%#@ is it?!Identi.ca is a microblogging platform, similar to Twitter but popular among the free and open source software community because the software it runs on is
open source. You post short messages that people can subscribe to, and you can subscribe to others.
What can I do with it?You can communicate with it using the web interface, or else with instant messaging over XMPP (formerly Jabber) or via SMS. You can also link it to an existing Twitter account so that you don't miss out on anything said by your friends on Twitter, and they won't miss out on anything from you.
I've subscribed to it over XMPP, primarily to watch the Debian squeeze release commentary, but will also probably continue to use it in the future. It would be nice to have some friends from FES on there, so feel free to sign up! You can subscribe to me at
https://identi.ca/parsifal when you do.
