Conspiracy fakes evidence of bendy light!

Yeah.  Light bending downward due to atmospheric refraction is part of RET.  It is also used as the explanation for the results of the bedford levels experiment.   So stop using this phenomenon as evidence of UA which in FET causes light to bend upward.

I've seen the same effect myself.

Flying to Korea from Seattle in the middle of the night.  The moon became more and more 'squished' the lower it moved towards the horizon, and since there was no blue sky from sunlight, it became increasingly red the lower it got.

I think TB knows this, but refuses to talk about it. I've mentioned it to him several times, but he tends to ignore me. I'm mostly posting this in the hopes that it'll force him to debate it with you. Good luck!
If we would all stop deflecting questions, maybe we could get somewhere.

You guys seem to imagine that Tom Bishop makes all this up. He doesn't. He is a very thorough academic and has spent years studying the topic. He is probably sick to death of explaining it to you all. Why not read it first hand from somewhere. As you must have all read ENaG by now, broaden your horizons.

How light refracts near the earth.

Left: conventional physics.                 Right: flat-earther's physics.

Quote from: http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/flat/flateart.htm
Modern flat-earthers do indeed assume that refraction is at work. They attribute the disappearance of the ships over the horizon to a refraction effect, and even point out that with some atmospheric conditions, ships, icebergs, and distant mountains have been observed to rise above the horizon, and even turn upside down!

The diagram at the right shows how this works. The angle that the rays strike the earth's surface is correct, matching the left diagram.

To complete their path from the sun to the earth the rays must curve to strike the earth at the correct (observed) angle. The curvature of the rays for latitude differences of less than 50 degrees hardly shows on the diagram. Of course this result can be obtained in various ways. The curvature could be confined to the region near the earth, even within the atmosphere. The diagram shows circular arcs, but other shapes might be used as well.

By the way ... just for lols, I love the caption that goes with the picture below in the same source.

That doesn't change the fact that refraction caused Rowbotham's results. As I am getting sick of explaining, when the experiment was repeated several feet higher, they proved that the Earth is round.

Do you think our Daniel Shenton is related to this Samuel Shenton?

Please label your axes.  Without knowing what these figures represent, your diagrams don't mean anything.

I had thought Daniel mentioned he was of no relation

Oh, ok. I just thought it was an interesting coincidence.

of course they do, it means that light bends upwards. if you put the y axis on the ground (where most people put the x) this is the earth. note that the sun's rays are curving upwards. but OP's post clearly shows that when light moves to a heavier medium, its slope gets steeper.

while clearly when it hits the atmosphere, it should be bending downward.

classic FE debating here. Statement---------Evidence/mechanism-----Proof???
the gap is never completely bridged though, and often times the evidence goes against the claim, and the mechanism is thought to mean proof

I linked you directly to the original source. What is wrong with you? You can read it all for yourself. This I suppose is why Tom Bishop gets to the point where "He refuses to talk about it" or rather having bashed his head against the wall repeatedly trying to lead rabid horses to water, he just gives up.:(

For the obtuse, lazy or outright stupid, again below is the original link.

Sorry.  I missed that.

So instead of using Electromagnetic Acceleration, he's trying to use refraction to explain light bending upward?  Have we not established that light bending downward is the effect we're talking about?

So we're all going to now pretend that refraction bends light to be less steep now?
Ok thats cool
