I've mentioned why I came here, I was interested in the fact that there were people who still believe in a flat earth, and thought I would come here to learn and maybe have a good debate or two

Actually, while talking about the history of the heliocentric and geocentric model, this girl said "how could anyone possibly have thought that the sun revolved around the Earth? They're so stupid!". I just think she's ignorant of how science actually works. Of course believing in the geocentric model after all the evidence to support the heliocentric model will make her rant a valid point. We're at the same point with the FES. First you need to give them the chance to argue their points, then logically and most importantly, in an unbiased manner, conclude what is the most reasonable truth.
RET wins this by far, and given that the few FE believers here will argue against that, we have to disregard their judgements. Some people just aren't capable of being reasonable and unbiased in their opinions.

Q: Why do RE believers come here?

A: Because it's hard to resist the truth.
Yet you seem so to do it so effortlessly.
By eliminating all present contradicting possibilities you would arrive at the present truth. It's impossible to arrive at a future truth.

To be perfectly honest with you guys, I don't blame the RE'rs at all. I guess some of them are extremely bored, unemployed, sexless, many other social tragedies.

Seeing as how you were an RE'er prior to coming here and having your eyes opened, is this how your life was before being an FE'er?

I've never had any of my employers ask me whether I believe in a flat or round earth, so I don't see how being an FE'er would lead me to more gainful employment.  As far as sex goes, I've never tried to seal the deal by telling a girl what shape I believe the Earth to be, though I can't imagine one would be more successful than the other.

If this is what your life was like before, I can understand why you'd seek friendship on an internet forum.
You don't think telling a woman that you thought the earth was flat might jepardize your chances of taking her home? Lol!!

Wise words Brother John we must continue to be taken seriously be the media and spread the word of Rowbotham to all. I suspect that Markjo meant that what if were were monkeys in a cage and then someone gave the monkeys the key to the cage. How do we define cage then? There are many ways which I cannot go into because few people will understand the philosophical terms I would need to use. Broadly speaking though, shit throwing would no longer be a problem. To put it in crude terms.

I view these boards because I have an intrest in pschology.... What makes otherwise seemingly intelligent people cling on to a theory that to most folk is flawed and ignorant to the deluge of evidence against it? I feel sure that there are people on this board who could fly their own spaceship above the round earth and still land claiming it to be down to trickery by 'the conspiracy'. Falling back on a conspiracy theory is always a pointer to a lack of credible scientific research / evidence and is used as a tool to deflect undeniable truths.

FE believers must have hugely stubborn mindsets. I believe that at least some of the people claiming to be FE'rs do know deep down that their 'beliefs' are unlikely to say the least, but they continue along the FE path to give themselves a sense of belonging to a group. The us versus the world mentaity is very appealing to many people I feel. It doesn't really matter what the subject material is. If someone had started a theory 500 years ago saying that tulips are actually alien overlords planted here to control the human race, some people would probably still follow that theory today despite it being obviously false.
