What does sexual preference have to do with showering?

You still haven't explained how men showering with men is discrimination, or what sexual preference has to do with it.  Showers are for showering.  If someone gets a peek at your dong, I'm sure it won't be the first dong they've seen.

Let me explain it more simply so you can understand it then. If I were to take a shower with someone I was sexually attracted to, I'd probably want to have sex with her. Can you not see the implications of that?

If you're sexually attracted to someone, don't you want to have sex with her whether you shower with her or not?

Nothing. But allowing homosexuals to shower with other men and not allowing heterosexual men to shower with women would be discrimination.

Hence the separation of men and women in the armed forces. If this wasn't the case, everything would be co-ed.

Before 1993, homosexual acts between consenting males were against the law in Russia,[36] and homosexuality was considered a mental disorder until adoption of ICD-10 in 1999,[37] but even after that military medical expertise statute was in force to continue considering homosexuality a mental disorder which was a reason to deny homosexuals to serve in the military. In 2003, a new military medical expertise statute was adopted; it said people ?who have problems with their identity and sexual preferences? can only be drafted during war times.[38] However, this clause contradicted another clause of the same statute which stated that different sexual orientation should not be considered a deviation. This ambiguity was resolved by the Major-General of the Medical Service who clearly stated that new medical statute ?does not forbid people of non-standard sexual orientation from serving in the military.?[39] Thereby, as of July 1, 2003 (2003 -07-01)[update], homosexual people in Russia can serve in the military.

DADT didn't change anything, gays could serve before it if they weren't open about it.  all DADT did was say it was ok to serve as long as you weren't open about it, people had already been doing it.  so anyone who has resigned due to DADT have done so because they chose to out themselves.  maybe you should read up on it a little bit too.
