It's not as ignorant as claiming DADT didn't cause any problems for gays serving in the military.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Thousands of gays were forced to resign from the military since DADT was enacted.  Perhaps you should read up on it a little.

It's not as if being gay reduces combat effectiveness, in any case. As an example, the Theban Sacred Band (an elite force in ancient Greece) were all homos. It was an entry requirement.

DADT didn't change anything, gays could serve before it if they weren't open about it.  all DADT did was say it was ok to serve as long as you weren't open about it, people had already been doing it.  so anyone who has resigned due to DADT have done so because they chose to out themselves.  maybe you should read up on it a little bit too.

All it did was force them to lie in order to be in an organization that says it is honorable.

WTF? Are you pretending to be this stupid, or do you really believe gays were allowed to serve in the military prior to DADT?  Also, "chose to out themselves"?  srsly?

Here is one article (I'm not sure if you allow yourself to read things not provided by FOX and Friends, but I can hope) http://www.newsweek.com/2010/09/27/gay-vets-who-want-to-return-to-the-military.html

Not just bigger, but it's more well equipped.
Yes, that is another consequence of the States spending 32x more per year on warfare than Canada does. And yet, somehow, the multiple trillions of dollars worth of funding spent waging pointless and unwinnable wars in the Middle East seem to evaporate into nothing as soon as the public discourse turns to actually providing a basic level of first-world healthcare to its own people. Fact: the USA cares more about killing Islamic insurgents than it does about saving and preserving the livelihoods of its own citizens.

It's not really much compared to the American military. I don't mean that as an insult, but you have to look at the facts.

Yes, but consider that the Pacific Ocean is larger than the Atlantic.

Can you support this wild conjecture?!

comparing gays being able to serve openly to slavery or women's rights is pretty ignorant.

As ignorant as suggesting that having to live a life of secrecy is freedom?

Would it be acceptable for straight people to not let anyone know of their heterosexual relationships in order to safeguard their career?  Then why is it acceptable to ask that of gay people?

I am glad they are repealing DADT, now we can start punishing them.  As soon as they admit they are homosexuals....automatic court martial.  DADT was there for their protection.  Now they don't have that protection.  Dumbasses.

UCMJ Article 125. Sodomy.

Sodomy is the engaging in unnatural carnal copulation either with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal. It is considered unnatural carnal copulation for a person to take into his or her mouth or anus the sexual organ of another person or of ananimal; or to place his or her sexual organ into the mouth or anus of another person or of an animal; orto have carnal copulation in any opening of the body, except the sexual parts, with another person

Like thousands of straight service members don't admit to this crime every day.   ::)  I know I was a serial violator of that regulation.

I'm guessing you're not, which might explain your attitude.

How does "I am gay" translate into "I just had butt sex with another soldier"?

Itt: people who aren't military taking about what you don't understand. Like any real soldier would want to share a foxhole or sleep in the same room as a homosexual.

I don't think that posting such a link is even necessary.  It's pretty much common sense that "gay person" != "guy who wants to rape you".  Those people who deny that are set in their bigoted ways, and logical arguments aren't going to change their minds.

Herp de derp, but the common argument I hear is that the soldiers will think "gay person" = "guy who wants to rape you", and that would result in a drop in morale. I feel that study is a valid disproof of that claim.

You're in the military?  You haven't noticed that there are homosexuals around you?

I've served, and I've known a few gay coworkers.  I never did get raped, but that's because "homosexual" doesn't mean "sexual predator."
