Possibly one of the worst performances I can ever remember.
Im going to do what i did last time and just berate the team individually.
Dave James - Solid again, probably Englands best play in the 3 games he played in. And one more redeeming feature, he isnt Rob Green.
Ashley Cole - Woeful again. Best left back in the world? Put Stuart Pearce back in, at least there would be passion.
John Terry - Apparently played out of position as a left centre half instead of a right centre half. Are you honestly for real?
Matthew Upson - Unable to read the game. No pace. No positional sense. Granted he scored, but it was a free header into an empty net.
Glenn Johnson - Granted he was dragged all across the pitch by the other three defenders lack of ability. Still poor though.
James Milner - Tracked back well but didnt cross the ball enough. Did acredit himself well though.
Gareth Barry - Did ok, did nothing special but did turn up sometimes.
Frank Lampard - As i have said previously, quite simply as good as he was in Germany 4 years ago.
Steven Gerrard - Thrown out on the left to be as ineffective as most of the rest of the team. Drifted inside far too much and left the wing without protection.
Jermaine Defoe - Played well, nothing special. At least he scored though, which is more than can be said for the next bloke.
Wayne Rooney - Simply never turned up. No pride, no passion, no commitment.
Fabio Capello - Quite easily out of his depth. Not prepared to changed based on the game. He has a plan and will stick to it irrespective of the circumstances on the pitch. At 4-1 down you replace a proven goalscorer with Heskey. Heskey had an OK tournament but why continue to go like for like when you need to score 3 goals. Should have left Milner on and just tell him to cross the ball and then leave Defoe on and bring Crouch on for a big ball.
If most of these players were wearing their club shirts they would be killing themselves to get to the ball, but for some reason the 3 lions do not matter to them. Half of them cant even be bothered to sing the national anthem, you should be proud to represent your country.
