It is remarkably easy to convince members of the public that they are in Space, as the Channel 4 documentary Space Cadets showed. I don't see why that kind of tomfoolery should convince me that the Earth is a giant ball.

It's amazing what you can do when you go to great pains to pick the stupidest people that you can find:
Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Cadets#Audition_process
In order for the hoax to stand a realistic chance of succeeding, the Cadets would have to remain unaware of the true nature of the show, even given any production mistakes and implausible explanations.

As such, a strict set of criteria were applied to filter out inappropriate applicants:

    * Eliminating anyone who had ever served in the armed forces, or who already had a significant interest in space travel or science fiction.
    * Psychological tests used to single out the highly suggestible and those who would conform to groupthink
    * Physiological tests to determine claustrophobia, including being in restraining jackets and trapped in a full lift
    * Being asked to dance blindfolded, without music, and with others watching, to gauge inhibition levels
    * Asking the candidates to nominate a friend or relative they trusted implicitly, to make a vital and important decision for them. These friends or relatives were contacted, and fully let in on the hoax, and given the final say of whether or not the Cadet should be included

The intention was to obtain a group of Cadets who were highly gullible, conformist, and ignorant about the show's subject matter; and also ideally suited to appearing in a Reality TV show (e.g. uninhibited extroverts, "wacky personalities", or characters otherwise able to capture the public's attention).

Yeah, I'm going to agree with Markjo on this one.  In fact, many people believe that the whole thing was a hoax, and that all of the "cadets" were actors.

Also, "Space Cadets" was a documentary?  Lol.

I remember watching this. All the candidates were actors. This was a double hoax.

They showed a clip of one of the actors in an advert.

Yes, the intricacy of the space Conspiracy has many depths of iniquitous deception. NASA, too, and Richard Branson, it seems, may be double- or even triple-bluffing us.

Did they ever prove that?  According to Wikipedia, that was never confirmed.  As for the advert, also according to Wikipedia, the guy in question claimed he was just picked up as an extra on the spur of the moment.  I agree it was probably a double hoax, but as far as I know, they're still insisting it was genuine.

The FE answers are not really any surprise. I made a list http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=38680.0 and not a single FE'er disputed it. Basically, everything that is a definite proof is regarded as the conspiracy.

Oh there's an easy way to show that what you experience isn't fake:  Take a walk outside.  Preferably without the suit.  If you're right, there will be air to breath.  If you're not... Well... let's just say it'll be a very bad day for you.
You have been ignored for common interest of mankind.

I'm fairly convinced that the Earth at high altitudes (that of space) would look similar to one of a round earth. Deeper space, perhaps not. Most people will be so brainwashed they won't even notice the inconsistencies.

I still to this day have people come up to me with claims like "I see the curvature of the earth when looking at lake ontario."  It is obvious this is simply in their own heads, deluded by the so-called "scientific" community and their first grade teachers.
The illusion is shattered if we ask what goes on behind the scenes.

What would cause half of the continents to disappear?

The fact that they aren't lit up and/or bendy light, depending on which model you're using.

If you aren't going to use punctutation, I'm going to start ignoring your posts. Try reading that post you just typed out loud, exactly as it is written, and you'll see why.

You say all your words as one long sentence without pausing for breath between any of them?

yes then i stop
thats why i use a new line
is some thing like that so hard to grasp that some one may use some other form of writing
look at Japanese they use no punctuation and its not that hard to read

So you would say "welll not totally last i was in a plane at night i could see towns just fine at night if not better with all that electric light and all" in one breath?

I wouldn't know, I don't speak or read Japanese. But in English, we use punctuation not only to make sentences easier to follow, but also to separate distinct phrases. For example, your sentence above could start as either "Well, not totally last. I was in a plane..." or "Well, not totally. Last I was in a plane...". The two have completely different meanings.

Well, considering "semantics" refers to the meaning of language, and punctuation is a key part of communicating meaning in written English, yes it is semantics. As I've said, until you start using punctuation - not necessarily perfectly, but well enough that you can be easily understood - I am not going to respond further to your posts. It would take much less effort for you to press a comma key on occasion than it would for me to attempt to figure out where the pauses are in your monologue.

This may sound outrageous at first, but once you give it some thought it will become clear that Einstein was always Einstein.

Can I point out that even if they weren't "lit" we should still be able to see the light from the cities?

Of course, which is one of many reasons I favour the bendy light model. However, some others disagree with me on this issue.
