Youtube enrages me
« on: May 05, 2010, 04:52:49 PM »
What a load of garbage and it went viral:
I saw a slight haze in the hotel bathroom this morning after I took a shower, have I discovered a new planet?

I rather like the video. A bit self righteous, but hey! Science did give us nuclear power; gotta give'em props.

The best part was when they pointed at the fake breasts and it said, "Not flat!"

It's wrong for FE ers and RE ers alike. Saying something currently accepted by science will never be changed regardless of any future discoveries is repulsive.

Nope.
Saying the sun gives off heat and light is a fact that will never change.  Until the sun dies of course.
Or how about The Earth's median gravitational acceleration is 9.8m/s^2 ?

Some things are facts that won't ever change.  Hell, saying "Humans are carbon based life-forms" is another.

I don't think they meant everything accepted by science now will be there for 9382u0492834 billion years. I mean, they keep discovering the smaller and smaller components of atoms, those have changed a lot since I was a little nerd loving the hell out of science. I think it's like what Dave said, certain things will never change.

In all probability, yes, certain things will probably never "change" but there is never 100% certainty.

Of course not.

But if it's 99% certainty for 1,000 years... it's as close to "always" as you're ever going to get.

Get an FE map that holds up to scrutiny if you want them to even think about rewording their phrase about the shape of Earth.

Invisibility to Visiblity is a really tough arguement. For invisiblity that is.
That would be a simulation of the fabric of space-time bending back upon itself

Well i don't think it was meant to prove the earth was round, but they did list things they did to prove the shape of the earth.

They did prove that the earth is round. But those proofs were outside the scope of the video.
