The government
« on: May 11, 2010, 09:25:56 PM »
I notice that peaple here always refer to "The Government" in relation to coverups.  Do you mean the governments of every country on earth/?  Or is this society meant only for the USA and just ignore anyone else?

The site's founder, and several prominent members, live in or are from Great Britain.

We have several views represented regarding the involvement of "the government" in the global Conspiracy.  The most common opinion among FEers, I'm pretty sure, is that the government has minimal involvement in the actual Conspiracy to make the world believe the Earth is round.  It's the space agencies themselves that are running the show.  Of course, the space agencies are government-run agencies, but with I would imagine a few exceptions the rest of the government is kept in the dark about the situation.  Now, as many countries in the world have space agencies, FEers naturally believe that they are in collusion to keep the myth going.  It's elaborate and brilliantly executed.  And for the (relatively) few people who get the stuff marked EYES ONLY, it's a monster cash cow.

This is where I believe the conspiracy theory breaks down. According to FET believers, "the conspiracy" has only NASA's budget (about 18 billion this year) to do all of the following things, and possibly more I'm not thinking of:

-Fake hundreds if not thousands of space vehicle launches each year. This includes 2 actual launches for each alleged space shuttle launch because according to them, vehicles can't make it to space so they have to hide somewhere for a couple of weeks then go back up to land publicly.

-Maintain a secret network of towers that no one knows about to fake satellite signals.

-Maintain and supply hundreds of bases for the guards who protect the "ice wall" from being found. Also, according to James, training attack birds.

-Fake all space photographs and videos, as well as faking any scientific data allegedly produced by any satellites. This includes common satellite maps (Google earth, etc.)

This is the really important part:
-Bribing the governments of every developed nation and every member of every research institution to keep quiet about the truth.

This is all of course in addition to the more tangible things that we know NASA does, such as running several research facilities and museums, etc. Bribes of all employees would be necessary also.

They would eat through that 18 billion before they even got to the bribes.

Why do you presume this?

I can only draw conclusions based on the information presented to me. Perhaps you would like to enlighten me and/or update the wiki to reflect any new information about the conspiracy you have?

Well, as stated in the FAQ, as well as my explanatory post above, NASA is in collusion with the other world space agencies.  You doubt that they have their own budgets to add to the numbers?

Keep in mind, most of the things I mentioned in my list would fall solely on NASA to take care of, such as maintaining their own facilities, bribing their own employees and other miscellaneous scientific researchers (plus private corporations claiming to offer commercial spaceflight, eg. Virgin), faking the hundreds of space vehicle launches each year, faking the scientific data which allegedly comes from NASA satellites, bribing private companies which offer satellite services (phone, TV, internet, maps) etc. The only reduction in cost which could be explained by other world space agencies is to reduce the amount paid as bribes to foreign governments and people, and only partially supply the ice wall guard stations.

I still don't see how there would be any money left over to make anyone fantastically wealthy, much less any group of people.

Here are some figures for the budgets of foreign space programs:

Russia: 2.4 billion
China: 1.3 billion
Europe: 5.4 billion

All those together aren't even half what the US has allocated for their space programs, and they all have similar costs (launching vehicles, running facilities, bribing employees, etc.) so it is unlikely they would have much left over to aid the US with their own costs.

The British Government has just changed. When, do you assume, they were informed that the Earth is flat?

Since when is the supposed "head" of the government actually in charge or in the know of everything?  Plausible deniability.  He probably wasnt made aware...plus do the Brits have a space budget?

I guess your right. What with our system of bicameral parliamentary democracy the House of Lords, Queen and Parliament would have to know.

Plus, Yes .http://www.ukspaceagency.bis.gov.uk/default.aspx

Yeah but their space programs also aren't as active as ours, meaning more money in the pockets of the conspirators.

So how could "the conspiracy" pull off everything they would need to do in addition to getting rich themselves on about 27 billion?

 ???

If it was that easy to figure out the specifics of the Conspiracy, don't you think they would have been "outed" by now?

I'm just confused as to how people could do things which cost more money than they have, and still somehow end up with enough money to get rich. The whole motivation behind the conspiracy is bunk until such time as I see evidence to the contrary.

Obviously, they don't.

Have you factored in the money they make from licensing?
