And still; making an accurate picture of the surface of a round object is possible with many pictures. :)
Only on a large scale with a small amount of possibly negligible error.

I'm not saying the picture in the OP misrepresents the earth. This is how I believe the earth looks. But I'm saying you can't post a picture of 'the earth' and say "Hey look, this is a picture of the earth so it must be round" When the article it is in actually says it is a fabricated image. Whether or not it is fabricated from real life accurate photos or just plain photoshopped is another story, but the point is, no image that is meant to represent a 3d object can be recreated from 2d images, and vice versa without some sort of error occurring.

The orgasmic fail of this thread has been achieved.
You, sir, are an absolute and utter twat if you do not understand this concept. I'd be willing to let Wilmore or god forbid Bishop to chime in here to help me out on this one.

Spheres don't have any flat surfaces and as such, a sphere cannot be recreated through the use of many 2 dimensional surfaces.

It was Tom Bishop that said those ridiculous things, he is the ultimate foe in regards to FE trolls.

This is cool, incorrect in places, but has nothing to do with photographs.

Why are we typing in bold? Is there a fire in the building?

Yes. It does. When you take a photo of a curved object, you are taking it from one perspective only. Any one perspective of a round object will not even show the correct dimensions along the surface and you are really just capturing an image of the round surface being projected onto a flat one (one like that round object's chord line). Taking an image of a flat object cannot and never will show that object in it's true dimensions and therefore to recreate that round object, the image must be distorted somewhat.

Still mostly right but also kind of wrong.

How does any of this relate to the OP?
You're really thick.

I'm trying to get through to you that whether the earth is flat or not, the image in the OP is distorted somewhat in order to be created.

yes

anybody who has ever texture mapped anything would understand this

No. Not to any practical measurable level.

A sphere has an infinite number of flat surfaces.

In practical terms a sphere is made up of whatever resolution is the smallest, the human eye or the resolution on your computer.

Either way, in composing this image NASA have achieved that resolution. There is not perceptible distortion.
You say no then yes. Which is it?

Have you never heard of the midnight sun?
