How can a perfect being create anything but something perfect? It would have no concept of imperfection.

If you are asking me the inner workings of creation and God's reasoning for such actions I cannot help you.

If you are asking for biblical backings for my answer to the question I would be more than happy to oblige.

Is that why God wants us all to chop the ends of our dicks off?

God does not care about the tip of your dick. Nor does he require you to chop the end of it off.  If the tip of your dick was chopped off in the name of God then the adults that presided over that function were mistaken.  I am sorry for your loss.

I have seen enough religious debates to know it is nearly impossible to debate a believer in religion... similar to converting a FE'r... not gonna happen... eventually logic and reason gives way to faith and stubborn...

If you are SO committed to a stance or position or ideology that it becomes your identity and you fail to acknowledge its shortcomings... what's the point in a debate?

And yet here you are in the religion section of the forum....having discussion about religion.

I, unfortunately, am a Browns (American football team) fan... they are not a good team... they do not win games... but I root for them. Why? Because I was born at a certain time and place and it is part of my identity. Do I believe in them? Well, i know they exist.... but i don't have faith in them to win... I would not argue for anyone to be a Browns fan... it is almost like my own victim identity...

"JEEZ, my team lost the super bowl..."

"Oh yeah? Well I am Browns fan, and there is nothing I can do about it!!!"

"Oh man, how rude of me, I didn't know.... I'm sorry"

My acquired personal view of the universe allows for a super natural entity/power in some form but not for an established mainstream religion.

My advice, find a new hobby.  May I recommend stamp collecting?  I find it 1000 times more fascinating than that so called "sport".

The "Christian" version of God doesn't...  but the Jewish version of God does... and jesus was a jew...

Ultimately I am not debating. I'm not quite biblical condridictions. Far smarter people than me with more time to devote to the topic than me have already combed through the bible. And whenever something doesn't hold up, like the 7 days, the religious person says... poetic liberies.... not to be taken literally.... whatever. That is why I am very clear to say, in my understanding or opinion.

I like how Penn Jillette says it... I can not know if God exists or not... but if he does, I don't believe in him.

I parallel that to... I know the north Korean government exists, but I do not believe in their set of rules and guidelines and vision of how the world should be...

Just because you renounce your sin, just because you live a generally good life, just because you do this that and the other doesn't guarantee you a spot in heaven for continued worshipping of the G Man... according to some interpritations of the bible.

And from what I can gather, IF the consequences for living a few years of life not in the highest standards because my nickle and dime sins racked up too many points is holy damnation being gang raped by demons for all of eternity... that price is too high for me to want to adopt it as my own...

If I was given free will.... then why punish me for living a generally positive life? Why didn't he give me the sex drive of a Panda instead of a ravenous bonobo monkey?

Why does he grant me empathy but create so much suffering that is out of my control? Why does HE create people without empathy and punish them for acting accordingly...

Why in the animal kingdom does the predator kill their pray in such a horrific manner? Wolves and bears eat their pray alive... kamodo dragons bite their pray and follow them for hours or days as their pray weakens and then they just start eating... the old testimate God makes more sense to me... he seemed like a God that was more in line with the other ancient gods of them time. War and sacrifice, bitterness, ego...

Again, these are my thoughts... I am more interested in why you believe than changing your mind. I am more interested in dialogue than debate in regards to religion.... that is why I dropped the upper forums because it is too much point counter point with ignoring good points and making up the most retarded bullshit on the fly...

I am fascinated with religion, it is a fun thing to talk about...

The "Christian" version of God doesn't...  but the Jewish version of God does... and jesus was a jew...

Still wrong.

Are you drunk?  There is barely a coherent thought here.  What about 7 days?  What poetic liberties?

I like how Penn Jillette says it... I can not know if God exists or not... but if he does, I don't believe in him.

That is very unfortunate

I parallel that to... I know the north Korean government exists...

Do you?  Or do you know that someone told you the North Korean government exists?

Just because you renounce your sin,

This is part of Christianity.

just because you live a generally good life, just because you do this that and the other doesn't guarantee you a spot in heaven for continued worshipping of the G Man... according to some interpritations of the bible.

This is not.

And from what I can gather, IF the consequences for living a few years of life not in the highest standards because my nickle and dime sins racked up too many points is holy damnation being gang raped by demons for all of eternity... that price is too high for me to want to adopt it as my own...

This is also not part of Christianity.

If I was given free will....

You are.

then why punish me for living a generally positive life?

Because your day to day actions(or works as the bible calls them) have no bearing on your where you are going to spend your afterlife.

Why didn't he give me the sex drive of a Panda instead of a ravenous bonobo monkey?

Why would God do that when He commanded you to be fruitful and multiply?  Do you think you have to stop having a sex drive to be a Christian?

Why does he grant me empathy but create so much suffering that is out of my control?

Unfortunately I cannot answer for God.  Just as a side note, even though you cannot solve all suffering, have you solved any?(I am only asking out of sheer curiosity)

Why in the animal kingdom does the predator kill their pray in such a horrific manner? Wolves and bears eat their pray alive... kamodo dragons bite their pray and follow them for hours or days as their pray weakens and then they just start eating...

Again I cannot answer for God.  Actually wolves and bears do not eat their prey alive, they kill it first.

the old testimate God makes more sense to me... he seemed like a God that was more in line with the other ancient gods of them time. War and sacrifice, bitterness, ego...

Cool story bro.

I believe because I have watched God answer prayers.  I have also watched God not answer prayers, however I have watched people grow in their love of God because of those prayers not being answered.  To include the death of a very good friend of mine who was ill.  I have watched things that happen that people call karma.  Why is karma any better explanation than "God did it"?  I believe for lots of reasons you would scoff at.

You have made a number of errors in your assessment of what Christianity is.  Those may need to be straightened out before you give up on faith that God exists at all.

I'm glad to see you're still faithful.

What do you (or any Christian) think about all those evangelicals begging for money all the time? There was one in Florida recently who needs several million for a private plane.

I am always skeptical when televangelists (or megachurch pastors) are asking for money, because they seem to do it all the time.  Some of my favorite churches that I have attended never asked for money, and always appeared to have enough to do what they needed to do.

P.S. On a side note I hope the guy in Florida gets his jet.  I could use a job.

P.P.S.  I recently became a licensed commercially rated pilot.

P.P.P.S.  He wasn't the first one to ask his congregation for a new private jet.

Yeah, he's just the most recent one I know about.

Sometimes I think these televangelists are the reason people are turning away from religion. They use Jesus to get rich. I think Jesus would flip over their money tables.

P.S. I hope you fly high enough to see the flatness.

I cannot speak for them.  I cannot say that the ones that I know necessarily say that. Maybe most think that a Clinton win would have destroyed the country so they feel a Trump win might have saved it.

What do you think comes after death?

The Christian version of the afterlife.

Do you believe in evolution?

A quick observation.  Do you separate people into 2 categories?  Those who believe in evolution and those that do not?  Why do you use the word "believe"?  Does it take faith to believe in evolution?

But I digress. To answer your question, there is scientific proof of evolution.  No belief required.

What I don't believe in is abiogenesis.  I prefer the biblical version of Genesis.  In other words, I am a young flat earth creationist.

Want me to really blow your mind?  We homeschool our 5 children.  ;D

Do you think vaccines are good/bad?

Some vaccines are good, some vaccines are bad, some vaccines when combined together are even worse.  I think the cocktail of stuff we pump into our kids at an extremely early age might be a little too much.

Do you think humans are animals?

Absolutely not.

If you live in murica, who did you vote for?

I voted forr not Hillary. However, I do feel Trump is doing a damn fine job and look forward to voting for him again in 2020.

P.S.  By the way, and I'm not looking for a discussion because there is already a whole thread dedicated to the topic, but Trump is going to win in a landslide come 2020.  Democratic news outlets are already beginning to talk about it.  The economy is booming.  Manufacturing plants are beginning to reopen.  Lower taxes, higher wages.  The Dems don't have anybody that can touch him right now.

In this case, yes. Those that believe in evolution and those that don't. There are thousands of other categories, and often there is more of a 'fluid transition' instead of 2 categories.

Doesn't everything take a little tiny bit of faith? Like trusting the scientists' work?
Also, english isn't my mother tongue. When I asked if you believe in evolution, I simply wanted to know whether you think evolution is true or not.

That's sad - because I thought you were serious here, but noone with a brain and two eyes (actually you don't even need two) would seriously think the earth is flat, so you have to be a troll. Whatever, let's just continue for the fun of it.

I find it fascinating you combine belief with science.  Very interesting.  I told you there is scientific proof of evolution.  You cannot deny that it is true.  Did we evolve from some common ancestor with the neanderthals, no.

At which point did evolution start then?

I am not sure, probably from the day they a specific animal was created.

Which life-forms where put into the world by god?

All of them.

Which are good, which are bad and how are you able to distinguish?

I distinguish between them through research.

What's the physiological and/or anatomical difference between humans and animals?

My answer would not be an anatomical or physiological difference.

You stated before that english was not your first language.  Am I to understand you do not live in the US then?  If not then I will allow for you to think that this is a troll post.  You are probably being fed who knows what through the international news outlets.

If you do live in the US then you are completely oblivious to what is going on around you.  The jobs report just came out, lowest unemployment rate in 18 years.  Only the like the 8th time in our history has the unemployment rate ever been this low.  If you don't believe what I said up above, don't take my word for it.  Here is the editorial staff of the Chicago Sun Times....not exactly a Trump friendly news source.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/business/trump-charms-downstate-steel-workers-granite-city-illinois/

For the tl;dr version of you, here is the last paragraph.
Quote
“We need steel,” he said. “We need steel plants. And to see an old, big monster plant like this re-opening — that is an honor. I look at the faces of you people; I could be one of you. I like you guys. I could be one of you.”

That struck me as either sincere or an amazing facsimile. The workers, for their part, couldn’t give him a standing ovation because they never sat down.

I left the hall thinking: Donald Trump is going to be re-elected in 2020. The Democrats don’t have anyone who can touch him. Bank on it. Don’t hate me for being the one to tell you.

Name me one democratic candidate that can compare to his popularity right now.  Go ahead, Ill wait.

IF you do live in the US sticking your head in the sand and calling me a troll for saying what I did is what got him elected in the first place.

Don't believe that?

Yet you believe in evolution because there is scientific proof....

This is why you can't debate religious people.... because they start homeschooling their kids and get so wound up in the bullshit and start thinking the earth is flat, and pull their kids from school....

Ultimately... James Hatfield's parents where christian scientists. He turned out okay.... eventually. Wouldn't be James Hatfield without them.....

Dear mother, dear father
What is this hell you have put me through?
Believer, deceiver
Day in, day out, lived my life through you
Pushed onto me what's wrong or right
Hidden from this thing that they call life

*editors note* yeah, I see my typos...

Well, not everyone is a smart homeschooled flattard boy like your kids.

Don't bring in people's kids fuck head. I can't stand most of the garbage dumpsters here, but I never bring in their kids if I know they have them. Too far and disgusting.

I agree, buuut.... the caveat would be.... wtf is he doing bringing them into the conversation? And swedish didn't bring them up or insult them... maybe he did...

And wardogg, I didn't question you're "intelligence" I dismiss you on account of your world view...
I'm know you can't be changed by anything I say...
I can't tell from your angry rant, are we having a discussion or aren't we?

Also, learn to spell before you start insulting other people's intelligence.

Wardogg is great, if you ask him questions about his faith respectfully he will answer respectfully.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.
