Proposed direct experiment
« on: March 26, 2010, 05:56:29 AM »
Hey all, The BBC recently reported on an amateur astronomer who has developed a balloon and camera mechanism that allows him to go high enough into the atmosphere to capture direct images of the curvature of the earth.

You can find the story here - I hope it works outside the UK!

It seems that this experiment is easily repeatable at a relatively low cost and we could all pitch in a little to do it. Would FE'ers wish to participate in this sort of experiment and would we all be willing to be bound by the results as long as proper safeguards can be put in place to demonstrate no tampering?

Thank you for being the 20th person to post this story.
I saw a slight haze in the hotel bathroom this morning after I took a shower, have I discovered a new planet?

If the video link above doesn't work, There's more text on it here which should be available internationally.

Hey Ichimaru Gin  ;) I guessed people would post this story, it's just that it struck me as a golden opportunity to maybe settle the debate with proper, undeniable evidence one way or another and wondered if people might be up for that?

It really wouldn't. I suggest searching for the many other similar topics if you wish to discover why.

Also, moved.

Since I disproved it with the non-variability between star distances when seen near the horizon and near the zenith. This has been raised several times.
People are still including it in arguments because to acknowledge its disproof leaves FET with a massive gaping wound in its side, so their pathetic solution is to pretend the disproof never happened.

I've still never seen a diagram of this. Therefore, it hasn't been disproved at all.

We sometimes forget that FE'rs need diagrams.

Cool! Let's show him a diagram of everything we want to prove and it'll be instantly proven. We can be done with this whole site in less than a few hours. This calls for champagne!
