Even when we get up there, or one of our trusted friends gets up there with his own camera and we watch him (or her, or whatever gender indentity preference they like to go by) download the untouched images onto a computer that we can guarantee hasn't been 'got at', all we will know is what pattern the light made on the receptors behind the camera lens. I think it's a dangerous step to assume from that pattern that the earth is flat or round. Until the issue of how light moves around can be resolved beyond all doubt, I think it's still accademic.
