The Guardian is probably the worlds biggest left-wing broadsheet, so in international terms it would be a massive scoop.

I plan on getting a vanity plate when I get mah car. It's gun' be TFES related as possible. (Maybe Tflat3s, or something like that? Depends what I can get on there.)

Also, WE NEED STICKERS. Because, slapping stickers around places totally helps people get interested. At least, it did for me whenever I saw one.

I just got back from the interview.  It was a slightly strange experience as I've never really publicly spoken about this sort of thing before.  The reporter was very nice, though, and I think the interview went well.  I suppose there's no guarantee that it will turn into a story but I'm hoping something comes of it.  If he does end up writing a piece based on the interview, it will give the Society a tremendous amount of publicity.  As Wilmore said, The Guardian is quite a big deal.  I suppose it's sort of like the New York Times of the UK -- maybe of Europe in general.  Its readership tends to be liberal, educated and fairly open-minded.  So I'm hopeful that the article would generate visitors who are genuinely interested in the Society and willing to consider the Flat Earth Model seriously rather than just creating accounts and insulting us.

There are a couple other things in the works as well but I don't want to jinx them.  I'll keep everyone updated, of course!

By the way Daniel, did he give any indication as to what kind of piece he was thinking of writing? How long was the interview?

By the way Daniel, did he give any indication as to what kind of piece he was thinking of writing? How long was the interview?

We spoke for about 35 minutes.

He's the environmental correspondent for The Guardian.  He's interested in why certain groups have beliefs which run counter to mainstream science.   Specifically, I think he's comparing/contrasting the Flat Earth Society's beliefs with those of climate-change deniers.  For instance, he thinks that climate-change deniers are motivated by financial and/or political factors but doesn't understand what the Society's motivations are.  He was up-front about all of this and seems to have a genuine interest in the subject.  We talked about that topic, standards of evidence, the conspiracy and how my Flat Earth beliefs relate to my views of other topics.  I'm sure I didn't change his mind about the shape of the Earth but I'm not expecting him to ridicule our beliefs either.  It sounded like an interesting premise, to be honest.  I think I'd enjoy reading the article even if I weren't part of its subject matter.

Oh, there's also apparently some sort of podcast he's involved in.  We did a little mini-interview afterward for that.  So maybe you'll get to hear me on there at some point!

Sounds good. Honestly, as you say, I'm not really too bothered whether or not he presents our ideas as even plausible - the main point is that it's a serious piece that will bring people here so they can decide for themselves.
