You guys will say anything to justify science over being religious, it's hilarious.

Why exactly are science and religion mutually exclusive? They don't have to be, you know. It's just that your arguments are retarded. There are millions of people who accept the scientific method and accept a religion.

You will say anything to attempt to justify even ridiculous and inconclusive evidence of religion.

...what?

I think you're mistaken. The issue was CHRISTIANS burning KORANS because they didn't like Muslims. There's a difference, and if you can't see it, I don't know what to tell you. And, it wasn't a hate crime. You're free to burn whatever books you want, just don't delude yourself by thinking it is in any way art when the purpose is to burn a book you disagree with rather than relay a message through symbolism.

I think this is more a comment on the British guy who blasphemed Muslims and is being charged with a hate crime, whereas if a similar thing was done against Christians, no charges would have been levied.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

Euh what? Justify science over being religious? You make it sound as if you can "be science" like you can be religious. Religious people who think like that should really take the effort to find out what science actually means and how it is helping humanities progress in understanding the world we live in.

I hear argument all the time about how someone had a 1 and a million chance of living and pulled through. this isn't a miracle if 999,999 thousand people with the same disease died. yes the person you loved might have survived but they didn't beat the odds. the are just the expected outcome of a system.  someone needs to survive other wise it would be 100% chance of death. not sure how coherent that is but... I really don't care.

Well, they did beat the odds. If I get heads on a coin clip, I beat 50% odds. It didn't have to happen to me, I had the same chance as everybody else and I got lucky, probably along witha couple other people.

The rest died.

Agreed. I remember watching a documentary in Religious Studies about a boy who had a lead pipe dropped on his head from a multistorey car park. He received only minor brain damage and his parents said it was a miracle. Hmm.

I don't view that as beating anything. that is the universe turning out the way it is supposed to. I would view that like beating a law of physics by flying a plane. it is using the laws not beating them

It's an expression. Someone in a casino "beats the odds", even though they didn't.

For one aspect, yes. We don't charge people for speech if it makes a scary group angry.

Guardian Angel

So people who get hit by busses don't have guardian angels? Why would god give some people guardian angels and not others? (Inb4 to teach atheists a lesson. Christians are not bus-proof)

Ya, this comes down to the same sort of converstation as the healing power of prayer.

Christian:  He didn't get hit by a bus because of a guardian angel!
Atheist:    Well what about all the people that do get hit by buses, they somehow don't have guardian angels?
Christian: They do, but it was just their time to go to heaven.
Atheist:    So all the people that did get saved, it was not there time to go?
Christian: That is correct.
Atheist:    So if it is already pre-determined whether or not it is your time to go, what is the purpose of the guardian angel, and why claim
that it was the guardian angel that saved them?
Christian:  Er....

Firstly, that isn't a cartoon or comic, secondly if you decided to address your own ignorance you'd find that nothing is inherently unstable, with virtual particles popping in and out of existance all the while*

The universe is still made of 'nothing' if you consider that matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. and that Energy is equal to mass times the speed of light squared (E=MC^2) as gravity is, in fact a negative energy, mathematically** thus balancing the amount of energy and matter which appeared 'out of nothing' as you would claim.

Thirdly, self-replicating molecules didn't re-arrange themselves 'for no reason' but through chemical reactions we can observe, predict and measure today. If you don't believe that self-replicating molecules can create a living being then consider the fact that you did it yourself. You were once nothing more than the food and drink your mother and father decided to consume which is changed through chemical reactions into the molecules necessary for creating human eggs and sperm.

The telling part is that shit like CR90's demotivator is based off of misunderstanding and ignorance. Stuff like Kira's and Dino's actually represent Christianity's beliefs.

Huh, how typical of atheists to only attack the literal interpretation. The sophisticated theology I suscribe to is totally removed. What? No of course I won't explain my sophisticated theology, you're too ignorant and closed-minded...

The Bible is a beautiful book, filled with the teachings necessary to live a fulfilled, happy life.

""If a man's testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD"

I am open to listen, Chris. You won't be the first or last religious person I debate with. But if something really bothers me, is demotivators like CR90's, they don't deserve any other answer.
