Truer words have never been spoken.

Yeah they ahve it's been as simple as "The sky is blue"

Actually, the sky is mostly transparent and only appears blue to Earth-bound observers because of a process called 'scattering'. Also at sunset and sunrise the colour of the sky goes through pinks, oranges, reds...

This is before we count pollutants and clouds in the air, out of my window in Britain the sky currently appears grey because of all the clouds

The statement would have been just as true if he stopped after "home".

Or "alone".

Quick reminder, guys: Truth is not relative. If he speaks the truth, then truer words have indeed never been spoken.
Here's an explanation for ya. Lurk moar. Every single point you brought up has been posted, reposted, debated and debunked. There is a search function on this forum, and it is very easy to use.

I still remember the times when Pope Remington came by for a visit; took me days to stitch my worldview back together. He still does pop in for time to time, but not as often as he did. We'll have to fix that.

It's kind of hard to sum up any belief system in a few paragraphs. Discordianism isn't so much a religion/belief system as the tools to build one. DIY spirituality/worldviews, kinda.

-It's a religion disguised as a joke disguised as a religion.
-It's counterculture that avoids mainstream integration like the freaking plague
-Heavy, heavy emphasis on sarcasm
-Operation Mindfuck is a fairly big portion of Discordianism: it's a kind of idealogical pranking. The idea is to confront people in the midst of their ordinary days with something that makes absolutely no sense and can't easily be explained. This tends to jolt people out of their little "reality tunnels" and opens them up to the possibility of new thought/ideas.
-Offers some interesting models/explanations of how the human mind works (Law of Fives)
-Deals a lot with the interrelationship of perceived Order and Disorder
-If religion is the opiate of the masses, Discordianism is the marijuana of the lunatic fringe.

As of right now there's a very active/productive Discordian forum at PrincipiaDiscordia.com. Here's two of their latest works:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/14714852/Sacred-Chao-Te-Ching(Some in-references, makes more sense after you familiarize yourself with the different terms/concepts)
http://www.principiadiscordia.com/bip/1.php

Also, you're a Pope, too. What you do with that authority is, of course, up to you.

I understand what discordianism is, but I still don't think I'm getting the joke.
I don't remember anything. Well, I do, but it's really vague. Like I was on drugs the whole time.

We are the joke.

Hence, take nothing seriously. Including (especially) seriousness itself.

That's true, although it goes a bit deeper than that. If you stop at "Haha, Discordianism's a joke", then you missed a bunch of it. Specifically, what's underneath the joke.

Love this one. I still hope that some moron makes a thread about teaching Creationism in school and that humans and dinosaurs coexisted. *hint hint nudge nudge*

Your second comic is incorrect, the bible is only ok with slavery from a neighboring country.

The fact that it took a ship to get there means it is unlikely the countries are neighboring. At the time they only considered land borders to be "neighboring"

So, two countries that have a land border cannot trade via ship routes?

I said unlikely. I'm doubting african nations were trading slaves via ship.

I'm done arguing though.
