This Accelerating Earth...

Hello. New to the FES.

I was wondering, given that the Flat Earth is constantly moving "upwards" why doesn't it slam into birds and airplanes and other airborne things NOT constantly moving upwards?  ???

Well I'm not sure if this is the same reason. As what my smarter colleges(<-don't know how to spell that) are giving ,but I think its the same reason why when you jump on your round earth you dont move to another part of it. I think i may be wrong.

So, the reason why a flat plane that's constantly accelerating upward doesn't hit objects above it NOT constantly moving upward at the same rate of speed is because air is water and airplanes, birds, helicopters, insects etc... are fish?

Yes yes, we've all heard your "Gravity" idea.  Its cute, really.  How does gravity explain falling things going faster?  Gravity is a force that pulls on everything.  Its constant, but when you're falling, you speed up and go faster and faster at the ground.  If its a constant, how is that possible?  If the Earth is accelerating, then when you fall, the earth catchs up to you faster over time, thus, falling faster.  The magnetism is what pulls small comets and things in, which is why they always look like they're coming in at an angle.

I believe in Round Earth theory falling objects do reach a constant called terminal velocity. After an object reaches this terminal velocity the rate of acceleration reaches 0. As for the Earth catching up with you over time, I don't believe it is Flat Earth Theory that the Earth is exponentially accelerating, but it retains its constant rate of speed, never going faster or slower. So, actually, all objects in the air should "fall" (remain stationary?) at the same rate that the Earth is moving upward and NEVER appear to be speeding up, as this would imply that the Earth itself slows down and THEN speeds for every single object in free-fall, which, Round Earth believer or Flat Earth believer, is impossible.

You seem to be new, as I am, and I'm not exactly a science major, so maybe some of you other Flat Earthers can clear some things up.

The same reason they don't on a RE. Bird can fly, planes utilize fluid dynamics to create lift through the air and fly.

The earth accelerating upward is pretty much impossible to tell apart from gravity pulling downward.

The situation is equivalent on both a RE and FE. Just use Newton's second law and it's pretty obvious; any problems indicate a lack of basis in physics.

Sorry, but none of this really holds water if you think about it...

In FET, the entire Flat Earth, everything on it INCLUDING the atmolayer, is accelerating at the same rate. So that would include all the particles, molecules, etc. that make up that atmolayer the we breathe and move around in every day.

So Airplanes, Helicopters, etc. that provide lift when the move through this atmolayer are not going to act any differently in what to their frame of reference is an essentially static environment (yes, yes, wind currents, pressure systems, we're not discussing that here. You get the drift).

Doesn't that make sense? Otherwise there would be no atmolayer at all. Then we wouldn't even be having this discussion anyway. ;)

Okay. I get that.

I guess it can't be proven one way or another. Unless someone has an idea on how you can prove acceleration vs. gravity or vice-versa...

Although...something tells me this has been discussed in length already.  ;)

Yeah, I get it. The accelerating force is pushing everything at the same rate of speed, not JUST the Earth. What I was saying initially is that unlike gravity, wouldn't birds and planes have to constantly fly upward to compensate for the Earth "catching up" with them.

But I get it now. So...yeah...

I guess this post is pointless.  ::)

Well not really. The "acceleration" only affects the earth (and maybe the stars and stuff, that's where it gets hairy)

So birds and planes do need to constantly fly upward. Which is what they do.

On a RE or a FE they do, considering if they don't a RE they'll crash and if they don't on a FE they'll crash.

It's quite simple really. The Earth accelerates at 9.8 m/s2 in the direction commonly referred to as up. Resting on top of the Earth is an atmosphere, which is pushed by the accelerating Earth, and so also accelerated up at the same rate. Sitting in the atmosphere are planes, birds, hot air balloons, and so forth. Each of these interact with the atmosphere in various ways (fixed wings, moving wings, buoyancy, etc.) to produce an upwards acceleration which depends on how the craft or animal is moving, but averages at about 9.8 m/s2, allowing them to keep up with the acceleration of the Earth.

It is not due to earth accelerating. If it was, the acceleration would be constant everywhere but it varys in a way to agrees with a spherical earth.

Perhaps the earth is like a train carriage, and above the sky is the roof of the carriage.
So just as when you toss an orange in the air whilst on a train it doesnt fly backwards at 100 k.p.h. Birds in the sky don't get hit by the rising earth.

This would also account  for the reason gravity accelerates to a certain point and then reaches maximum velocity.
That maximum is the speed the earth is rising and you are making the transition of leaving the train carriage of the analogy.

If the earth was actually round and u fell out of a plane at 30 000 feet, you wouldnt fall straight down like people do. But would fall in a direct line towards the centre of the earth. Kind of diagonally.

^That would work if the earth had constant velocity, but we're talking about constant acceleration. If you're in a car going 20 and throw a ball in the air as the car speeds up to 40, the ball will fall toward you.

Try slicing the wings off an aeroplane while in mid-flight to take away its upward thrust, and see if the Earth catches up to it or not.

  After finding this site, as most of you, I had to register to voice my two cents.
  Some FE proponents seem to be confused with constant velocity and acceleration. CV would not give the illusion of any downward force and that is why when driving down the road at a CV we do not struggle to move about to change the radio station.
  Acceleration would be the only viable force to keep us pasted to the ground which we all seem to agree is 9.8m/s squared or 32 ft/s squared. Note that after 1 second 32 feet is traveled or 32 ft/s. After 2 seconds 64 feet... 64 ft/s...etc. At the end of one year the planet would be traveling up at a speed of 1,009,152,000 ft/s or 688,057,998 miles per hour or 30,481,920 meters per second.
  Wow, the speed of light is only 299,792,458 meters per second. In less than ten years the planet would be traveling up at the speed of light. Multiply the speed of light by 1/10 of the planet's age and you have anything that tries to fly, see, of hear having problems.
  The speed of sound is 343 meters per second, s@#t, after 35 seconds loss of hearing would set in. Unless of course there is some magical force I am missing.
  I can't believe that since I started this reply I am now traveling 12,027 miles per hour faster up.
