I'm suggesting that, very simply, that the contents of the wiki do not constitute an 'official' version of FET any more than the contents of the FAQ. Tom contributes to the wiki because he's a valued FE'er with a strong knowledge of FET. However, his theory, James' theory and John's theory, for example, are all quite different. As none of those theories are considered the 'official' theory (as the society does not have an 'official' theory), Tom, no more than John, James or myself, does not speak definitively on behalf of FET just because he has the ability to edit the wiki.

And you don't see that as a problem?  How can the FES promote the "truth" of the flat earth when it's own top researchers can't agree on any description of the earth beyond the fact that it's flat?

First of all, RET is just as divided as FET. Secondly, suppressing people's ideas and theories is not a route to truth.

First of all, RET is just as divided as FET.

RET may be divided about many things, but the size of the earth isn't one of them.

Secondly, suppressing people's ideas and theories is not a route to truth.

I'm not taking about suppressing any ideas or theories.  I'm talking about answering some of the most basic questions of FET so that a cohesive, accurate model can be formed.  As I've said before, the FE can't be both an infinite plane and a finite disc, so which is it?.  There is so much riding on that one question that I don't see how any serious development of FET can happen until it's resolved.  Only then will you be able to start building a cohesive FE model.

We're all just as anxious as you are to resolve these issues markjo. In fact, I daresay we're far more anxious. However, until such a resolution is acheived, it is entirely sensible to document the various models that exist. I cannot understand why this is such a huge cause for complaint.

Maybe it's just me being impatient, but for some odd reason or other it just doesn't seem that FE'ers are doing much to advance FET beyond mere speculation.

Case in point.  FET is not my theory to prove, it's yours.

Then try using a properly equipped vehicle with a heater and plenty of provisions and fuel.  ::)

A vehicle and surplus fuel won't help if the length of land beyond the Antarctic coast is very long.

Then how else would you propose to prove that the FE is an infinite plane?  Remember, you are the one claiming that the FE is an infinite plane so it's your burden of proof.

It can't be proven that the earth is an infinite plane.

The only way to do it is not to try.

Wow, that is some awesome logic there. That's like me saying I can prove the Earth is round by just saying it. Just because I said it means it is 100% proof that I'm right.

And how exactly can you prove something that can't be proven?

Sorry, but we're not obligated to post like lawyers just because you guys like to jump to untenable conclusions.

You throw out that you don't have to post like lawyers as your retort to an obvious conflict between positions portrayed as fact and you call our conclusions untenable.

That's fantastic.

First of all, RET is just as divided as FET.

I know, I was just reading an article regarding whether earth is a finite sphere or an infinite sphere, if gravity exists on it or not, and on still trying to determine, after all of these years, what causes a lunar eclipse.

Good evidence for the infinite plane model is the fact that gravitation does not diminish with altitude alone.

Bad evidence for the infinite plane model is that we can see the stars. However, if the earth has to be flat, I prefer the infinite plane model over the other cheap version.

Bad evidence for the infinite plane model is that we can see the stars.
How so?

If there is a flat earth, the stars near the horizon must be beyond the edge of it. If there's an infinite plane, the stars would have to be an infinite distance away in order not to intersect the plane. And therefore would not be visible. I'm surprised you hadn't thought of that.
